19 years ago today!!

Yeah same here, I was an utter mess, regardless of the result it’s a big regret of mine.

I was only 11 years old when this game took place. This is how I thought it was always going to be. You soon learn 🤣

Fantastic times.

I'd love to experience these times in my adult life and not just my childhood.

Fingers crossed ey.

UTB

Same I was only 12. My wife said to me when Newcastle fans were crying after winning the cup - Did you cry when we won the Carling Cup? I said nope, I thought it was the norm.

Such a shame we've been mostly gash since.

Thankfully we're young enough for it happen again in our lifetimes... not sure it's gonna be for a good while yet though! I'd love to be wrong.

I was 10, remember the whole day at school being revolved around the game, then getting home and watching it with my mam because my dad and brother went to the pub to watch it, she got us a takeaway to make a night of it haha.

I can only imagine what it would have been like on here after the game on the night.

Sadly, I was not drunk enough. I can still remember being sat in the stadium praying we could keep it to a respectable 2-0 defeat while Sevilla ran rings around us.

Having arrived in the Boro square about lunchtime, I remember stopping drinking about tea time as I thought if I keep going here I'll be completely smashed for the game.

Unfortunately I think most people kept on drinking as the atmosphere was poor, everyone seemed knackered after a full day of drinking and singing in the sun. Atmosphere in the square was great though, loved the whole experience apart from the actual match.

Remember it well. We had stayed at Düsseldorf few nights before. I was in the Seville end. Remember arriving early and the square was already packed then 2 of the lads we were with disappeared in a taxi to a local supermarket and came back with a boot full of those small beer bottles, and I mean full we must of had 20 plus boxes and we actually give some away. Never been so drunk at a match in my life. Afterwards I was distraught and to this day I don’t think I’ve ever watched the match back. They had some unbelievable players at the time though I remember whom most went onto great things, they probably had the 2 of the best full backs in Europe at the time.
I have one of the orange banners that were hanging from all the lampposts throughout Eindhoven. Still was an incredible achievement that I don’t think we will unfortunately witness again, not in my lifetime anyway. Some great away days in Europe I was fortunate to go to.

We drove to Luton, easyjet to Dotmund, hire car to Eindhoven. Sweltering day. Loved the Sevilla fans banner before the game. Great experience, shame about the result after the Basel and Steau games. 19 years, how time flies.

Me too, with a stay in a Belgian village called Neeroeteren.

They really were a good side in all fairness. That viduka chance, could have been oh so different. I too was splattered, there was a boro fan next to me asleep!! Shameful really.
