12 Years of Boro - BVB

That’s a nice story, can I ask what exactly a recognised fan club means? I get you said the Boro > Dortmund side is done, just awaiting on something to cement it the other way?

I'm assuming it means officially recognised by the club, in this case Dortmund. I'm guessing if they recognise it as an official overseas Dortmund fan club they will then qualify for priority access to a small number of tickets (as I imagine a lot of the really big clubs in World football do to a number of fan clubs in other countries).

I'd too be interested in joining as Dortmund have aways been my German team of choice since watching them in Europe in the early 90's and being fascinated by the yellow wall.

Agree with the points about German atmosphere and fans, I've been to Hertha Berlin and Bayern Munich over the years and had a great experiences at the matches.

I ended up on the drink with the Germans in Leicester Square after the Euro 96 Final. Great people.

I was in charge of a group of 35 students going on an adventure camping holiday in France and was crossing over on the ferry the day after the Champions League Final when Dortmund got beat at Wembley by Bayern Munich. The ferry was full of Germans and the atmosphere seemed a little tense. I asked all the students to stay in one area and had plans to evacuate if trouble started.

In the lounge we were in were mainly Bayern Munich fans and they seemed in good spirits. Halfway through the journey the doors in the lounge opened and a line of Dortmund fans came in and did the conga around the BM fans. You would have thought Dortmund had won the cup the way they partied. They made a fuss of our students and one or two ended up with Dortmund scarfs they were given.

Somehow, I don't think English fans would have behaved in the way the Germans did.
Was a really strange weekend that. Bayern fans were hardly seen around London whilst BVB treated it as Boro would and took over bars and Trafalgar Square. Maybe it was just another final for Bayern...

Also interested in joining been to Eintracht, Gladbach, Hoffenheim & Munich to watch fo watch the Bundesliga, best atmosphere at Footy Grounds in Europe & you can order beer in your seat. Would love to witness the wall 1st Hand
Theres a special feeling having a beer or a smoke watching the football on a terrace no matter where you are, but yeah the wall is something else! If you email borobvb2012@outlook.com with your name, email address, phone number and postcode we will add you to the members list on the next update.

Excellent - I managed to get to a Dortmund game in 2019, three of us, all Boro fans did a bundesliga weekend, we did 3 games in 3 days - Dusseldorf on Friday, Dortmund on Saturday and Bochum on Sunday.
I wrote up an article for it and it was published in Football weekends Magazine
Amazing mate! Bochum's stadium is quite something. Is there anywhere online to have a read?

Being an official fan club of BVB we can apply for tickets for games that get put aside for fan clubs. Every home game we have applied for we have been successful, apart from the Bayern game ofcourse. Away games as you can imagine is harder due to allocation sizes, but we have managed to secure a fair few tickets this season for N*wcastle, Milan and Koln to name a few.

Members also get access to 19.09% discount at the club shop, and free/discounted tours around the city or stadium.

The Boro side, im not sure. I cant imagine it being the same perks but the club havent mentioned anything yet. I imagine they havent really had a request like this before? It would be nice for something similar to be offered to the German side though.

I recall a Geordie youtuber going to interview some Dortmund fans in Newcastle before their champions League game, only to find, much to his disappointment, that they were from Boro.
Interview aborted.
😃
That was brilliant that, never seen a face drop so quickly!

And no, no age limit, just ask our OAP branch!

Why don’t they just give you 20%?

I've had a look (I was there) and I can't see anything online in terms of the magazine.

The away fans somehow managed to get a flag draped off the top of the away end. Presumably someone shimmered along the roof support and hung it. I did have a photo, but I don't know what device I have it on. There were 10x more police than we had seen at the other 2 games with 10x the fans.
