Mrs T and I have just retired from fostering after 22 years. We fostered kids who come from unbelievable deprivation and poverty and we helped out both with the kids and their parents. The money we received from the local authorities did not cover what we spent but we felt priveleged and lucky to be in a position to help out. Just because kids are not in care doesn't mean that they or their families also don't need help.
I cannot find the words to say how much I despise the Tories.
I could go on but this has ruffled my feathers and I am having a good old sup tonight but some things really get to me.
So, for you people who voted Tory- you voted for this and I utterly abhor your selfish attitude just so you can save a few quid- and you are the same people who would demand the conscription of the "lower classes" for cannon fodder at the slightest hint of war. You are repulsive people

Beat you to it by a few minutes, but echo your sentiment completely.

One thing that could be done is make it a statutory requirement that Child Benefit rises by the rate of inflation.

In 2010 Child Benefit was £20.30 first child and £13.40 for other children.

Since then inflation has risen 60% so Child Benefit should be £32.48 and £21.44.

However because Governements since 2010 have often not incresed Child Benefit the current rates are:

£24.00 and £15.90

This means a family with three children earning less than £50k a year is £8.48 and £5.54 per week worse off than in 2010 or £718 per year worse off in terms of Child Benefit.

If people on benefits voted in their own interests and in the numbers pensioners do, there might have been a triple lock on that too.

To paraphrase Jonathan Pie when talking about homelessness (I think), when a western society has kids in poverty it's government has failed. No, ifs, buts or maybes. It's a F***ing failure of government .

In partial defence of some tory voters historically, many will have voted tory out of ignorance and fear rather than selfishness. Such is the power of the media and the control tory backers have over it.

Not really an excuse this time round though. Not any getting away from the creatures they really are now.

First of all, thank you to you and your wife for what you have done for those children.

The tories really are the scum of this earth and their voters need to be ashamed. Anyone voting for them going forward will no longer be apart of my life, I couldn’t never trust somebody actively voting to starve our kids and freeze our elderly whilst stealing our infrastructure.

I think we to invest huge amounts into drug and alcohol rehab services, many of today kids at school live in homes with parents/guardians with addictions, indeed I suspect just as many do if not more as others do that parents do that are working 4 jobs.

The problem is of course in Middlesbrough we do have excellent addiction services, but can't afford to increase the offer we have, I was in a meeting this week where we was informed that for the first time ever we now have a waiting list of children needing addiction help, we simply can't keep up because of government cuts. But I'm really please to say that it's a huge priority of Mayor Cooke's and our new Labour controlled Council.

Oh and no, we don't get any help from the mega rich in comparison combined authority that Houchen lords over.
