Is anyone else simply not bothered anymore?

Or just me?

The way the football authorities have handled the situation and completely taken fans out of the equation has made me realise we are completely superfluous. Different outcomes for different leagues within the pyramid with the focus being on completing the top flight season to minimise money paid back to broadcasters has proven what the authorities think of fans.

Possibly I’m just fatigued with how the season has dragged on, the situation under Woodgate or simply getting old, but I’ve never been as disenfranchised.

Didn’t even realise we were kicking off at 1230 today, then when I looked at the BBC website at 1 and saw we were 3-0 down I just laughed. Bad I know.

Maybe a 2020 version of Bruce Rioch is whats required.

I have said from day one, that if they start the season again without fans, I wouldn't go anymore. Today, I never watched or listened to the game and only knew the score due to my eldest texting me.

Of course it will hurt if we go down and I don't want to see that, but I will never step foot again in a professional stadium.

When that 3rd goal went I felt a rage coming on that I haven't felt in a long time, I was fcking fuming at the lack of tactical nous on show from the coaches that had gotten us into this mess.

As I fan I can't help but care about this club, it's one of the things that has defined me my entire life. If Gibson felt the same anger that I did when Ayew scored the pen then Woodgate would be gone tonight and he would be on his knees begging AK or NW to come into the club and save us. But it won't happen, I can't help but feel that Gibson is the one who really doesn't care anymore.

Definitely a change for the worst. It's obvious now to all and sundry that football clubs are no longer for the local fans. It's for investors and hedge fund playboys.

I feel exactly the same way - could have watched today but wasn't bothered - football without fans there is a pointless exercise. Feel really detached from football now, it’s like we’re just going through the motions to finish the season. I’ve never felt so detached from the club I love, and believe me i have invested so much of my life into this club but I’m feeling like why do I bother right now 😩

It's the billionaires' sport now. We will never truly compete, as much as we would like. Even Leicester had a billionaire owner. As a sporting spectacle, it's a sham. An uneven playing field and no one wants it to change. Because of this I struggle to care beyond Boro losing. Stopped watching prem football.

I’m bothered, but it’s getting to the point where I think fans are beginning to care more than some of the people who are working for the football club. I look at Woodgate on the touch line with his legs spread apart and he genuinely doesn’t even look arsed to me, and then he comes and gives interviews surprised that his master plan hasn’t worked. I don’t know what planet he’s on.

Then you have people above him who are constantly making terrible football decisions so it’s getting to the point for us fans where our opinions are becoming pointless as no one seems to be listening.

Ridiculous statement Randy. Who's making money from Boro.? Certainly not Gibbo!

Simply not bothered anymore, we are a fuccing embarrassment from Gibson all the way down to the tea lady, they have had the last penny they will get out of me. Will just out golfing on a Saturday afternoon, so much more entertaining and a dam site cheaper.

Totally agree on parts, apart from the not stepping in a stadium again, I will continue to go to Boro fans only when the powers to be allow me to enter the Riverside, other than that the powers to be have deemed its OK to play meaningless matches without fans & if the end product has us going down so be it, I will go then but won't listen, or watch till that day returns

Drove down to Cambridge, packed up & back today with a selection of playlist tracks (some from this here abode) and never even thought about the game beyond knowing it was being played. Was not so much shocked as resigned to the result...

Am I bothered? YES.
Can I do anything about it? NO, not even vote with my feet because attendance isn't an option.

What I can't be arsëd with is venting any more - here or elsewhere - because it just makes me more irate.

I’m bothered. I can’t change football as an industry, even if I want to, but I won’t let an ever changing environment stop me following my club avidly as I have for 30 years. Yes, I don’t think about it 24/7 like I did when I was 14, but it’s the thing I care about most after family and friends.

I can take or leave the PL (and whether or not we are in it), the ownership issue does irk me somewhat, but Man City have been found out now. Plus, we’re not in it at present so why worry about it.

What I don’t understand is why people continue to post on the board once they’ve lost interest. I used to be quite into F1, I loathe it now. But I never go on any F1 message boards anymore.

I think a lot of people like to portray that they’re not bothered, often as a reaction to a result or a bad season, but really they are.

As for no fans in stadiums, I’d much rather be watching on the box than not at all, personally. Yes money dictates things, but if you read books written about football in the 70s, they all say it dictated things then too. So I’ve never known football that isn’t dictated by money, it’s just part and parcel of it.

I'm another one who can't muster any enthusiasm for the cynical product that will follow through to the end of the season. Just get it finished and then we can start again in the third tier.

I must confess that, Boro excepted, I pretty much lost interest in pro football years ago. It is structurally and financially now miles away from ordinary fans, and this is even more highlighted during hard times like the present. I have always refused to buy services/products from Murdoch related companies, so no Sky anyway. I would hate us to go down, and of course it's absolutely great when we do well, but overall? Meh.

It hurts Subbuteo, it really hurts. But this season it has been coming to us. A £15 million player in our side, bought specifically to score goals, and we were talking about SURVIVAL at the start of the season. So many talented players and were HOPING that we would stay up. A rookie manager, and no experienced ex player/coach/manager to assist him. On paper, we had a very good squad of players. Who the fk is responsible for this mess. To me this is even worse than 1986 when we were saved, then, when had no money. Today, we do not have that problem. Does anyone remember what Gibbo said after our relegation from the 3 points fiasco. He said, "I will not let this happen to my club ever gain."

Murdoch doesn’t have a stake in Sky anymore does he? I know that’s not the point you’re making, but just as an aside.

Good point. In truth I don't know. Maybe I'm just being a miserable old sod. Not proud, it's just the truth.

Lol, don’t be so hard on yourself. I get the point. I couldn’t tell you if the current ownership was morally better than Murdoch, or anything. It might be worse for all I know. I just try not to let these people ruin my love of the sport.
