Warnock very critical of the club

the TS interview was pre-recorded last week, and is going out to "celebrate" his record number of games - great timing!

Was interviewed on sky about 5.50. Said he loved Steve, he had no help behind the scenes since he started at the club and that might have been different if Steve was as hands on as he used to be. Said he found out this morning in the papers before he got a phone call and the new manager was in place for 2/3 weeks. Said he missed out on 4 or 5 crucial players because the recruitment team were to slow and they went to other teams, but he believes that will be different now as have a new head of recruitment

I disagree with the last part.

My take was he was blaming the head of recruitment for the issues.

To be fair, if that's how the sacking went, sounds like he's actually been far nicer than I would have been!

Whilst no fan of Warnock - I think he’s had his day - his comments are spot on. We are a basket case of a club. We have incompetent fools in charge of transfers. we try and agree ridiculous deals and watch as things stall and they sign for rivals. Dont know if that’s Bausor or Gibsons fault. If we could only show a little more ambition. we have often got two or three signings away from a really good squad with a fighting chance but pulled the plug too soon. Clearly due to finances but this makes us a graveyard for managers who can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

He wasn't in before the transfer window closed. He stated in September, he can't be criticising him for the last transfer window.
I think the agreement with Norwich was that he couldn't be officially appointed till after the transfer window. But we knew he was starting for months, I find it utterly unbelievable that he hasn't been involved in identifying players behind the scenes.

Do you go to games?

Gibbo is probably on the hook for a £100 million plus at this point. Granted a big chunk of that is probably his own fault, but we can't just throw money at stuff to get things over the line.

I still believe there's a few agents he won't deal with? And obviously we don't take managers who are working either so I think we have principles on certain aspects of player signing that most clubs don't.

I just can't believe we're utterly incompetent, I'm pretty sure there's a number of issues that add up to us delaying things and missing out on signings. Our location, or financial situation, Gibbo himself, possibly Bausor too.

Fair enough on that comment.

If he thought the new head of recruitment was going to be supportive of him he wouldn’t have said that only Steve Gibson was the only one backing him and he wished Steve was more hands on.

I’m sure Neil will get a chance to say some more in the next few weeks on Talksport, Sky etc .
