Imagine if Every Kid Arriving at School Got A Covid Test

Yeah but they then had to endure the schoolmaster giving them a good seeing to . 😬Certainly glad I went to Thomo’s instead of there .

As it's a boarding school where the kids live 7 days a week don't you think it's a good idea?
It's a brilliant idea BB. So brilliant I am amazed that it is not extended to the rest of the country's school children. I wonder why a registered charity can receive these tests and other children can't. Could you help me?

Do all children in the country board?

Have a little think about the difference between testing kids then keeping them in a bubble & testing kids then sending them home every night.

It makes more sense to test the kids who are going home every night.

The ones in their elitist bubble have no knock on effect to the rest of the population, the ones going home to potentially kill their granny certainly do.

I’m assuming Eton can afford it, whereas your average massively underfunded comprehensive barely has enough money to keep the lights on.

I have thought about it BB. It still doesn't make sense-it only highlights the difference between the priveleged and the rest of the country.

You do realise that would have to test them every day & even that wouldn't guarantee that they weren't infected.

Eton are doing a similar thing to the international cricket teams, test to make sure there is no virus then keep them in a bubble.

My view is test both or test neither but we all know that little Tarquin's health is more important to the government - and you furlock tuggers - than a kid from a comprehensive.

All comes down to money and Eton can afford it. As an aside I see no reason why public (private) schools should exist, whilst ever the elite can send their kids to places like Eton then there will never be enough motivation to improve the real public schools all over the country.

So you think Eton shouldn't be allowed to take the sensible precaution of trying to make their boarding school covid free unless an almost pointless regime of testing all school children everyday is implemented?

Imagine the consequences if all the kids were tested everyday. With a false positive rate of 0.8% & many schools sending whole year groups home if one pupil tests positive then it wouldn't be long before most the schools were shut.

Argue against the existence of private education by all means (you never know I might agree with you) but don't pretend that the Eton kids getting tested is some great injustice.
