I want a government that puts the majority ahead of the minority. Prioritise the workers, not the business owners. Make outcomes and service satisfaction of health, education, rail, police etc the key metrics and not profit. Prioritise the people of this country first by offering better education and training so everyone can have a good career if they want it.
Transparency is key. I want better messaging around things like inflation, wage growth etc. Stop using % change and start using indexes. It's far too easy for governments t say "look inflation has gone down" instead of saying "prices are still rising and they are x more than they were last year, than 5 years ago, 10 years ago etc". It really holds them to account when you compare wage growth as well because it's very easy to see with an index whether wages are keeping up with inflation. They get away with inflation-busting payrises of 1% above inflation but people don't understand that it goes nowhere close to matching what they should have been getting for several years. I want better messaging on per capita spend as well. It's no good telling us GDP or whatever has risen by 1% if the population has increased by 1%. We need inflation-adjusted per capita spend (at every level, local as well as national).
