The weekend beer and music thread

Afternoon all, hope you're enjoying the rarity of a dry, bright day and looking forward to a weekend of fun and merriment. Big game on Monday night against the Dirties coming up, not really anything to play for (I know, I know... mathematically its still possible etc) but it would be a great feeling to throw a spanner into the works of them getting automatic promotion so that in itself should hopefully give us plenty to cheer about.

I know its an early start today but heading across to beautiful Corbridge for an overnight with Mrs WG. Kids are staying at their aunties house tonight so taking full advantage and going for a night away with some food and a couple of drinks when we get there.

Given its a traditional Northumbrian village with some traditional pubs I'll be expecting they have at least a handful of local ales on and hoping to bump into some Northumbrian Gold at some point. It's a really lovely drink and can sink one or three of those and not get bored.

Given that I'm having a bit of a Northumbrian night I'll kick us off with the Quireboys and It's 7 o'clock given Spike's origins in Haltwhistle.

Been off today
Got a puncture this morning, got it repaired, met a friend for a disappointing pub meal (good booze, not so good food in terms of how little there was - so will be hungry when i get my tea)
Spent some of the afternoon on trying to plan future care for my Mam
So switching off from that now

Will have a few beers with a couple of mates tonight, and maybe a few more when home
Sleep in tomorrow if the couple of 'cocoa at 730, bed at 800, up at 6am to make a racket' people near me are having tomorrow morning off

Enjoy your weekend fmttm-ers , and let's hope Boro can help Leicester and Ipswich (or even Southampton) with their promotion pushes on Monday night

That Northumbrian Gold looks the business

I can't say I'm complaining as I'm drinking this tonight:

No drink yet as off to the Trades Club to see Urban Voodoo Machine. No idea what to expect ... decided to take my in-laws out to sample the delights of The Trades for the first time and, as they like Gorgol Bordello, I thought they might like these.

But enough gypsyfangled stuff.... a ripsnorter from our best contemporary supergroup... Fat White Family meets Self Esteem (and Working Mens Club) for some pervy clingfilm action.

This thread is my favourite of the week, and also the worst (especially when I am working from home and drinking water while I wait for the end of the Chicago day and looking at all those pictures of cold, refreshing and tasty beverages!).

Today's music started with the new English Teacher album on Spotify and since then it's been randomly picking similar tracks. Currently it's this pleasant track from NewDad:
