You are Kieran Scott, what would you do?

I would cash in on McGree and possibly Forss if good enough offers come in.

Love both of them but they're too injury prone. It's the same cycle with them, they're in the team for 7 or 8 games and have a hot streak then get injured for about 2 months, come back into the team and the cycle restarts.

The only problem with that is we failed to bring in suitable replacements for Akpom/Archer/Giles/Ramsey etc last summer, so I'm not sure I have the faith we'd replace McGree and Forss

We brought lath in to replace archer. Ramsey barely played. Yes Engel and Bangura can’t do what archer did, but they’re probably better defending.

Akpom is the one we have struggled to replace. Long term Roger’s could have been it. Maybe less goals from 10 but more creative. But then we cashed in very early. Azaz needs to get stronger in the summer. He’ll score more than rogers but a lot less than Akpom. But he will create chances.

GK - OK - Do Nothing

RB - Sign Ayling on short term contract and buy some time. Let Dijk go

CB - OK - Do Nothing (Allow Paddy to leave)

LB - Sign a LB capable of stepping straight into first team. Let Bangura or Engel leave if someone will sign them.

CM - Sign 2 new ones (O'Brien can be one of these if reasonable deal can be met). Sign Howson as a versatile squad player. Do my best to keep Hackney but if he leaves a third CM is required. Let Barlaser go if someone will take him.

LF - Sign one first team player + one back-up - Let McGree go.

10 - Sign one first team player

RF - OK - Do Nothing

ST - Sign a third Striker to join Coburn and Lath

In

1 x RB (Ayling)
1 x First team LB
2 x CMs + Howson
2 x LF
1 x No10
1 x Striker

Use the loan system to bring quality if required

Out

Dijksteel
McNnair
Engel or Bangura
Barlaser
McGree
Gilbert

First Team

that's pretty much exactly what I would do

Its very clear the direction we are a long way down the road of - signing young players, whether from the UK or mainland Europe, with potential to develop then sell on. I think apart from the occasional no brainer this would rule out any player probably 26/27 and above. I also think there is next to no chance we will go into next season with Smith and Ayling as our 2 right backs. Dijksteel is clearly on the periphery, and will likely move on this summer, so I would expect a young right back to come in. We are fine at centre back and left back, provided Bangura can stay fit. I think of all the loanees O'Brien should be the one we are looking to retain, however finances and the division Forest are in next season will be the deciding factor in that. We are OK right now in central midfield, but it is not beyond impossible that any of O'Brien, Hackney, Howson or Barlaser are not here next season, so whichever move on will need replacing.

Clearly we need a striker. Coburn needs a full season as first choice somewhere to aid his development; he is nowhere near ready to be our first choice striker. I'd say the same for Silvera and Gilbert. In that case we would need at least 2 wide players/number 10's, as Greenwood should not be retained under any circumstances.

As has been mentioned by others, Scott and his team have probably already finalised their plans, with the majority probably being players we have never heard of.

A little something extra that I have only just realised is that every single player we have signed in the last 12 months speaks fluent English, so clearly that is something else they are taking into account.

I would look in the mirror and faint with surprise at my transformation.

Just to be clear - when I am transformed into Kieran Scott - am I in my own house, or am I magically transported to his gaff?

Do I get to keep his hair?

People are assuming that Smith will be fit in August, he might be, he might still be months away, he might not be the same player, or worst case he might be done. I think Ayling was brought in, to gain a contract, and has done enough.

the club are probably eager to avoid another Martin Payero situation.....especially since Crooks isn't here to translate anymore :ROFLMAO:

Out of interest, why have so many players been mentioned as desired signings when they are currently stinking the place out with the likes of Rotherham, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield, Birmingham and Blackburn at the bottom of the championship.

I'm not sure I've read a single player mentioned on this thread that I'd be anything more than slightly ok with us signing.

These are not players that are going to help sustain a promotion challenge.

So do you concur or not? I'm confused.
Flipping heck ! I don’t agree ! I am confusing myself now 😁
I think we need 1 very good 1st team starting CH , especially if Mcnair goes .
Sorry for the confusion, head in the shed !
I would love Ladislav Krejci LCH / DM , but would settle for Helik and his goals / presence .

If I were the estimable Mr. Scott I would avoid the considered advice of any poster on here, we're all full of shight. Especially at about 10pm on Friday evening...
