* The Unofficial "Official" Boro v Hull [04/24] Match-Day Thread *

As bad as the second goal was, the first was just as frustrating to concede. Hull put in that same cross 3 or 4 times and we didn't learn from it and then they finally managed put one of them in the back of the net. Really poor play for both of those goals!

To be fair Hull are getting down both flanks far too easily - we have be given a lesson in passing and attacking play since a bright opening ten minutes or so by us
There hasn't been a lot down our left. Engel had assisted a goal, cleared of the line, blocked 2 shots on target and put a second terrific cross in. He isn't the problem tonight.

Half time, clear our heads and go again…Hull are playing well, overloading the midfield, we need to get Greenwood and Azaz in the game, they are passengers at the minute.
I think Greenwood needs to come off. It's not all his fault.
Sorry to say, but he never puts a shift in for a whole game, only this time it's the first 45 minutes.:(

We are so rubbish down the left. Engel: constantly loses his man, multiple passes astray. Greenwood: wants too may touches, runs into trouble. It's too easy to pressurise us and get joy from that area. Granted our goal came from there and theirs didn't but that is our weak spot in general.

There's no legislating for a suicide pass like that from Dieng, it's true, but to be fair his save a few minutes before was outstanding. Hull are superior. They have a lot of clever forward players, move it quickly and are well-organised. We haven't really threatened and you can't see anyone on the bench who'll change it. Hope I'm wrong.

We should try and actually pass forward. We stopped playing as soon as we scored. Negative football.

There's big gaps in the middle and we go back and play ourselves into trouble

I wouldn't back against us winning this 4-2 but we would still be 4 points off Norwich with 4 to play. Before tonight we had around a 5% chance at best of making the playoffs.
Had we defended well we would still be 1 nil up. If we can sort out our play through the pitch, get the midfield involved then maybe.
