Saka penalty

Away from the bias nonsense of Twitter what are the opinion's of the sensible people on here about the Saka penalty that wasn't given.

Before VAR for me that's given as a penalty all day long. VAR is making us analyse decisions like this to the nth degree and it's spoiling the game.

For me it's a penalty all day long. I'd have been fuming if it was Boro. Neuer went for the ball didn't make it and caught Saka. Same as the Harvey Elliott one. If the defender is trying to pull his leg away and the striker initiates contact then maybe that's a different discussion but both should have been penalties.

The fact that the Harvey Elliott one was given and the Saka one wasn't shows that we still can't achieve consistency even with VAR

Never a penalty, Saka attempted to cheat, the ref spotted it, VAR agreed. Contact was from Saka to Neuer not the other way around.

I didn't think Elliotts was a penalty but given it was given and the scousers insist it's a stone Waller then saka should have had a penalty and neuer sent off

No penalty.
Saka initiated contact by placing his right leg in a position inconsistent with a natural running style.
If he wasn't booked he should have been.

Clearly I need a new sport to watch 🤣 🤣

On another note I'm sure we can all agree Leeds not getting that handball last night was hilarious

That was 100% a penalty, I'd be fuming as a Leeds fan.

It was probably deliberate from Luke O'Nien too, he's that sort of scruffy player.

Thankfully I'm not a Leeds fan and I can laugh about them dropping points when I wanted them too.

I'm not sure, I went from Penalty seeing it live, to no penalty afterseeing the replay for the first time, then after watching replays from different angles especially the one from behind, I think Neuer sticks his leg out at the last second, meaning Saka can't avoid contact but also making it look like he initiates the contact.

I've only seen it at full speed online and even without the benefit of numerous replays I'm in the "Saka played for it" camp. He made the contact with the keepers leg as far as I could see and it was a good decision by the ref.
In the PL I'm sure there'd have been a 5 minute VAR review, the ref would have been called to the monitor and it'd have been given. It really does feel like our officials interpret the laws in odd ways at times.

Thought as it happened live it was penalty, but the first replay was enough to convince me Saka tried to win the penalty by sticking his leg out towards the keeper.

I didn’t notice the Arsenal handball until after full time. I’ve seen refs book players for catching the ball before it goes out for an obvious throw in, in fact it happened against us earlier this season.
