letter from simon clarke today

Thats because the same old "new poster" turn out to be "ex labour but coildnt vote for anyone now whilst trying to deflect threads away from tory criticism to labour criticism , normally with no relevance to the topic, they disappear and up pops a new one
Also 'I've got no interest in politics' , but post mainly about politics just after joining a football messageboard - and 'they're all the same'

New Boundaries mean Berwick Hills have moved into Middlesbrough and Thornaby East, & Saltburn have moved into Redcar. Not that it makes a huge difference, MSEC has always been a bell weather constituency, Clarke is toast and he knows it.
I agree losing Berwick Hills (natural Labour) in cancelled out by losing Saltburn (natural Conservative).

East Cleveland and SE Middlesbrough always Labour wasn't it from 1987 to 2017?

Ignoring what ten ten said though, which I pointed out said none of that, also it was factually correct.

Not even a new poster but tagged as one due to number of posts, don’t understand it… all boro fans surely that is most important thing

No, although it's one of those that's changed over the years.

For a period it was Langbaurgh and there have been both Labour and Tory MPs since all the old unitary councils were abolished.

Tenten said:

"Can it be electioneering if an election hasn't been called ?"

It wasn't a statement, it was a question. So how can it be factually correct?

Assuming you think he wrote "you can't be electioneering if an election isn't called" then that also isn't factually correct anyway. In fact the rule is that the stationary cant be used for party political campaigning. You can do that whether an election is called or not.

I don't think Tenten is a Tory shill.

I'm beginning to think you are.

Well the young letter wasn't party political campaigning, thats kind of my point.... therefore it doesn't break the rules set out, which was being suggested.

I have no idea if the Clarke one is campaigning, I have not seen it.

Sorry if you don't take kindly to the truth being pointed out, the same will happen under Labour in 4 years time, at which time I would again point out that said MP isn't breaking the rules.

Care to point out what the definition of a "tory shill" is - I'd love to know, it seems to get banded around a lot. Is it any different to a Labour shill, Lib Dem shill or a Green shill or do they not exist?

I'll suggest that it does break the rules, both Clarkes and Young letters.

Possibly under point 3 looking at the above, I'm guessing a range of issues, can also include only 1, i.e Teesworks in the Young letter.

I stand by the point it wasn't campaigning or electioneering, though it clearly is that but without saying it, therefore gets a pass but I hadn't see the other bullets, which I think probably breaks bullet 3, no idea on the Clarke one as I haven't seen it

I don't think the envelopes were pre paid, but I guess headed paper would be classed as stationary

Clarkes is the same, and yes, they do appear to be pre-paid.

So “Tory shill” boy am I now a Lib Dem one, as it seems their mayoral candidate has said almost exactly same as me

A Tees Valley mayoral candidate says letters recently sent out to constituents by local Conservative MPs praising progress on economic regeneration “skirt close to the line” of what is appropriate.

Mr Thorley said: “They haven’t broken any rules - my understanding is that MPs are allowed to send out communications to their constituents once a year on official headed House of Commons note paper with the postage paid for. They have also been careful not to mention Ben Houchen, or the Tees Valley mayoral election. However it’s clear that the Conservatives are resorting to somewhat desperate tactics to boost Mr Houchen’s chances of re-election. They [the letters] skirt very close to the line of what is appropriate.”

Same to you as per above

That's just a blokes opinion, people have asked the Parliamentary authorities for their opinion, once they have given their verdict then we will know.

Yes and his opinion was the same as mine, I’m called a Tory shill for doing so am I now a Lib Dem one? Or is the Lib Dem a Tory?

That’s good and when they do we can judge, if they state they’ve broken the rules I’ll happily support that, not sure I’ll get much back from some others if decide they haven’t
