The rest of Europe has been preparing for the eventuality for the last two months. It could, and should have been avoided with earlier intervention and support for Ukraine. It might still be avoided, although Netanyahu is doing his best to engineer one ... on top of the other war crimes, attacking a diplomatic legation building .... something that you just do not do.
The US, on both sides....red and blue... are culpable for much of this debacle.
I am a long way from being an admirer of Erdogan, but when Russian fighter bombers played fast and loose with Turkey, they were dealt with immediately and didn't go back.
It's one thing having "Putin"'s mob behaving like maniacs, with no thought about human life of consequence ... but add another, in the shape of Netanyahu, into the mix, then the Iranians and the Saudis going at it (via proxies) and it's pretty alarming.
But I take issue with the idea that this is being normalised. It is not. It is preparing people for what might happen.
And, while you might not see missiles flying over Teesside, what you might see is cyber attacks on critical infrastructure. This has been going on already for some time, with attacks on GPS Nav systems for air traffic for instance.
But, I would advise against watching rolling news... especially our domestic news services. You'll end up ill informed AND stressed out/anxious. Not a great combination.
