I remember when Ashley first took over. Loads of the old Newcastle board thought they were going to win the league. They always assumed he would spend all his own money chasing the dream.
It has never made sense to me Newcastle fans saying they want their club back, when Ashley was about. It’s as nonsensical as 30p Lee saying that about his country now.

Newcastle's fans want the owners to sell them dreams, even if that means lying to them.

He lost that plot a long time ago.
He couldn’t find his own **** football wise nowadays.

Ashley was mainly hated because he sacked Keegan. He could have spent his entire fortune on the club and he’d have still been seen as the guy who sacked Keegan.

Why should the owner lose a fortune running a football club? and why do fans expect it?
What other business is set up to lose multimillionaire ££££ a year?
Makes no sense, cleaver successful business people who buy clubs and squander millions on it.
The game needs more Ashley to control costs

I never understood why the Geordies hated him so much. Had the club on an even keel. Playing Prem football. Relegated once but he backed them and they kept most of their squad and walked back up.

It is odd that the Geordies were morally opposed to how Ashley runs Sports Direct but they are totally fine with public beheadings.
