If the rumours are true that he is out for the rest of the season then he may have played his last game for us.
He has really struggled since his return from injury so not being available may end up being a blessing in disguise. It should help maintain his sale value when premiership clubs come knocking in the summer. While had he remained fit and continued his poor run of form for the rest of the season it could have put teams off making decent bids.

ffs sounds like you want us to sell him :) don't want to lose any more of our better players if we can help it

I was at the Preston game and when he went off he actually ran off the pitch - didn’t look that bad so I’m quite surprised to hear rumours he’s out for the season

I have a feeling noi decent offers will come jn for him now . I think wel get the opportunity to out a decent side together in the summer and achieve our targets .

Since being moved back into his preferred position he's been great, so I'm not sure I can agree with the suggestion he's been poor. He's a top player and would not look out of place in the PL.

Injuries haven't helped him this season and this latest one is another only adds to that.

Kieran Scott hinted at the fact that he's not pushing for a move, rather he's really settled here and whilst I think a big offer will see him move this summer I'm not sure it's a certainty.

I’m hopeful Hackney will still - he’s a local lad and i think he loves the club and wants to stay and get us up. If McGree goes i think the club will be under less pressure to sell Hayden. Having said that Hackney is the one at the club with the most value though so if a really big offer did come in, say £20m + then I’ve no doubt they’d sell him.

Sounds like a bidding war is coming for him.

West Ham and Forest, and if the top 6 interest is accurate, we'll at least get a good fee for him.

Would be a real shame if that Preston match was his last Boro appearance though.

I know this forum is only our fans chit chatting about the team but it never ceases to amaze me how many posters just assume that any player showing a bit of quality will automatically want to leave or be automatically sold.
True and it may be a bit of paranoia but you can understand why after the Rogers sale and we see press comments about our talented players. I do hope we can keep hold of HH for he would form a really good midfield with Riley and Fin next season.

Frustrating but that’s where we are as a club. Agents are circling around us because they know we will sell or certainly can’t turn down. If bids do come in and HH wants to go and play in the EPL we can’t really stand in his way. We therefore have to extract the maximum for him.

I’m not sure about ‘frustrating’ in my opinion the fans should be in outrage about the club cashing in and continually weakening the squad.

It’s one thing understanding the business model but quite another buying into it.

If we follow the likes of Brighton and Brentford we should always remember they are actually in the premier league.

Well certainly there has been a lot of outrage flying about in the last few weeks.

Brighton absolutely did not operate like we are when in the Championship.
They built a squad good enough for automatic promotion, paid big wages, kept their talent and were bankrolled by an ambitious owner.

That's true. But never forget Gibson did the same for us under the Robson years. I look at Brighton and they are mirroring what Boro did at one point in time. However they're still yet to reach League and FA Cup Finals, a European final, and win a trophy though.

In their favour their recruitment of young players and turning a profit is way way ahead of what ours is/was during that time, if it lasts all well and good, but give it time and they too will be probably be priced out of the Premier League.

He played well last game, he was man of the match just a few weeks ago vs Chelsea at home, and he’s been played out of position a couple of times which hasn’t helped

Hackney is class. He's shown that playing for us and for an England U21 team that is littered with regular premier league performers and likely future superstars, and he's never once looked out of place.

He suffered his first longish term injury and you could argue he's not been on top form since coming back into the team. But he has played out of position and in a team struggling for form largely due to continual disruption from many other injuries.

He's still a young lad at the start of his career. He's going to have dips in form. But I've zero doubt he will one day probably very soon be playing regularly in the premier league. I'd be gutted if that wasn't with Boro, but I reckon we'll have 1 more season with him.

Best player we've had from the academy since Downing.

He was very good at Preston. He had a poor couple of games out of position. I think almost all of our players have gone through rough patches of form this season because there’s been so much chopping and changing. This idea that Hackney has been poor though is being completely overblown imo.

David Wheater £10m to Liverpool?
Matthew Bates £10m to Everton?
Hayden Coulson £10m to Newcastle?

Not just limited to our players either..
Bryan Robson to Man Utd?
Aitor Karanka to Real Madrid?
