I know at one time he was criticised for giving managers' too much time, Southgate being one example of this, but it was actually understandable when you take into account that allowing previous managers' time in the job proved to pay dividends. I can see why he was reluctant to change his philosophy.
We see now that he's a lot more ruthless. He didn't mess about when it came to dismissing Woodgate, Monk and Wilder. As I said, I see that as him owning up to his mistakes, without having to say anything, although if we're being honest, not many fans would have felt hiring Wilder was going to prove to be a mistake at the time.
