We need a Club announcement regarding season ticket renewals today.

This isn't a football decision. It's commercial. It should be Bausor if not Gibson. Have we ever heard from Bausor? Has he ever explained how his management of chemical companies like ICI gives him any experience in running a commercial/retail arm of a football club? Scott shouldn't be anything to do with ticket prices and if he is then we're wasting his time.
That’s why I said it should be the chairman himself. It has nothing to do with Scott. Gibson is the man who signs off on these decisions, in this instance I think he should engage with suppprters and explain the reasoning.

I think Gibson essentially does the talking without actually having to say anything whenever he sacks a manager anyway, as that can be seen as conceding that a mistake was made hiring that manager.

Did we really need him to speak publicly and spell it out to us that he felt he'd made a mistake hiring Woodgate, after he sacked him and hired Warnock? The fact this happened part way through Woodgate's first season in charge was evidence enough that he knew he'd messed up.
He strikes me as a man very reluctant to own up to, or even accept his mistakes.

I suspect he thinks Woodgate was unlucky. Would you confidently rule out him offering Woodgate the job again?

I get the impression he still thinks Pulis is a football genius.

He'd probably accept Monk was a mistake, but probably more so because of the dodgy dealings.

I do agree it doesnt really matter what he says. But his actions (in my opinion obviously) are of someone who doesn't do very well at learning from their past mistakes. He's pretty stubborn, I think that's fairly evident.

I know at one time he was criticised for giving managers' too much time, Southgate being one example of this, but it was actually understandable when you take into account that allowing previous managers' time in the job proved to pay dividends. I can see why he was reluctant to change his philosophy.

We see now that he's a lot more ruthless. He didn't mess about when it came to dismissing Woodgate, Monk and Wilder. As I said, I see that as him owning up to his mistakes, without having to say anything, although if we're being honest, not many fans would have felt hiring Wilder was going to prove to be a mistake at the time.

I particularly like that they advise us that one of the benefits of having a season ticket are having your seat reserved for the season 🤣 Oh and you get in the u21 games for free. Next they'll be telling us a benefit is having access to the ground 23 times a season and the ability to watch the jackpot draw LIVE in the stadium
Don’t forget the half time penalty shoot out.

I would disagree on Woodgate tbh. To me that’s one of his worst sackings. We had the whole of lockdown to prepare, to think about what we wanted to do, how we wanted to play, and then he sacks the manager after the first game back. So three months down the swanny and then a stop-gap pensioner has to be appointed to keep us up, who’s then given a contract out of goodwill rather than because he was the right man for the club - and is then somehow allowed to manage us into the following season, his second full season, despite the previous ending like a complete binfire.

We don't know what was going on behind the scenes. Maybe Gibson had previously spoken to Warnock about taking over from Woodgate and Warnock told Gibson that he wasn't interested. Then we had that awful home game (can't remember who we played) and Gibson's posssiby gotten back in touch and said I'm pretty desperate here, please reconsider.

From what I remember fans had mixed opinions regarding whether Warnock should have been given another season. I actually supported the decision at the time because I'd thought having crowds back at the Riverside would make a big difference. Playing a season with no fans was surreal for the players.

The real comparison is that a venue in Stockton showing small productions with local celebrities wouldn't be charging more than the West End to see World famous productions.
Plus, I presume they would be showing live screenings of Sunderland matches...

This is the statement Gibson gave when he sacked Southgate. I think it was fine and respectful.

"Gareth has given Middlesbrough Football Club magnificent service as a skipper and, in very difficult circumstances, as manager. I appointed Gareth in a situation that was greatly unfavourable to him.

"He is a good man and has all the qualities and integrity that we wanted in a manager. However, the time is right for change and that change has had to be made."
And so enters Gordon Strachan😠

The increase from last year is just based on inflation, it will be roughly the same increase as your council tax, utilities etc
