First ever Middlesbrough game

27th November 1982.
Middlesbrough 1 - Blackburn 5
I’ve hated Blackburn ever since!! Things could only get better after that game.

Huddersfield home a night match on 30th March 1970 1-1 draw .Willie Maddren scored for us Frank Worthington scored for Huddersfield . Huddersfield were promoted that season
That was the night they clinched promotion (the 1969/70 season finished earlier than usual because of the 1970 World Cup).

Vs Aston Villa on 27th December 1976.

We won 3-2 with a David Mills hattrick.

I have the typical memories: the colour of the shirts, how green the pitch was, first sight of the pitch after walking up the steps at the East End, Jack Charlton collecting the track suit tops, the amount of people! 32,000! I never saw a bigger crowd at Ayresome.

I fell head over heels in love with the place that day. I was heartbroken when we left.

Middlesbrough 3-0 Big spending Derby County

1st home game of the season 1993/94 season. Glorious sunshine. Sat on the very end brick wall of the Holgate end as it curved around towards the South stand.

Early Christmas present the week before in December 1965, we beat Wolves 3-1 at AP.
I was 7, and the thing I remember most was the fact that it was ruddy freezing!
We went home to a big bowl of stew and dumplings. We were in Division 2 and my favourite player at the time, Arthur Horsfield, scored one of our goals.
I also remember a match on my tenth birthday at AP, Football League 2 Scottish League 0 in front of a crowd of over 34,000.
That was very special, I think Roger Hunt scored for the Football League. Happy days.

Boro V Liverpool - pre season friendly 1970 - Won 3-1. It was a night match and remember having my breath being taken away when I first saw the pitch... the colours were so intense.

January 1975, Arsenal at home, in the East Stand leaning against the pitchside wall, 0-0.

It was a night match I think, staggering clash of colours with Boro's red and the luminous green pitch. Boro's defenders, looked MASSIVE, almost like scaled-up humans. All unforgettable scents and scenes, from approaching the ground to walking back to Newport Road for the bus home.

I was there too in the 68 English League V Scottish League and the 1972 one. (y) 🚀

’88 night match. League cup first leg vs fourth division Tranmere. Drew nil nil in an absolute classic 🫣
I believe there was some sort of deal on to tempt people to go which makes sense as my mam took me, hated football and was always skint! 😅

I've done this before. Bristol City at home in the 86-87 season. Mowbray scored the only goal for my debut win.
Coventry at home. League Cup 2004-05. Fell in love with the club as a nipper and never looked back since. Still get that twinkle in my eye every time I find myself back in sunny Boro, travelling under the underpass, getting into the Riverside and seeing the old girl in all her glory. Always go back to being that six year old lad, absolutely mesmerised, every single time. Hope I never lose that feeling, UTB.

2-0 home win over QPR in an Fa cup third round replay during the 97/98 season.

Andy Campbell and Mustoe scored the goals.

Middlesbrough v Rotherham United 28th March 1987, 0 - 0.

I was lifted up and sat on a standing post in the Clive Road corner, in front of the floodlight.

My uncle took me and he got in tones of bother when my parents came to collect me as I wasn’t supposed to go.
