Josh Coburn Update at Press Conference

Had a small operation before Christmas, but his condition is still being managed.

So not a particularly positive update, he's still obviously unfit and now we're selling yet another option.
Carrick said it was a procedure rather than an op. It seems he is suffering soreness. But what we learned is that he isnt being managed rather than getting an operation.

Carrick repeatedly said that he is being managed in today's press conference and used the phrase "not necessarily" when asked if there'd need to be a long term solution.

So it sounds like an unfit player is repeatedly being played whilst recovering and they're just hoping it doesn't need full blown surgery, rather than being confident it doesn't.

Carrick didn't flinch when the subject of free agents came up.. maybe something comes up he said before.. when Morgan Rogers got sold.

He's not fit. You can see that for the last month or more. The issue with only having 2 CFs is that they both keep getting rushed back when not fit.

We've almost certainly made both players injuries worse due to necessity. It's madness going into a season with 2 CFs. Kav / Hoppe and Gilbert can't even be counted due to mins on pitch. We didn't start any of them with no CF available.

A massive recruitment oversight. Especially as they actually wanted to move Coburn on in the summer.

He was gonna go out on loan until Tommy Cannon went for £7.5m as it happens Coburn has been more productive than TC this season.. so the right decision was made.

Rumours we were in for that American striker and then a right winger on loan.

Plan b seems to be.. sell Matt Crooks!

I can only think we have academy players ready to step up..

This is making the decision to not bring anyone in even more baffling - they know Josh isn’t fit and should not be considered for first team duties, and they also know Lath has quite a serious injury that needs a lengthy recovery period. Greenwood is not a goalscoring centre forward, Forss is potentially a very good centre forward but he is seen as the right sided player of the front four - yep it does kind of feel as if they’ve said we’ll see if we can muddle along with what we have an hope for the best.

No. I don't read it that way. It isn't a case of Matty Crooks playing on needing a hernia op. Coburn has already had a procedure. Following this he is experiencing soreness is what I was told this week. Carrick says he has good days and bad days.

They had a striker but were blown out of the water by a quite massive bid.

shocking negligence from the recruitment team short of strikers in summer played the strikers when not 100% and surprise surprise injures followed . Absolutely criminal we didnt get a striker in the window. Whats next flogging forss like a dead horse until hes out injured. The Seasons a right off because of recruitment failure i bet even zen like carrick is ***ed off with the amateurism of the club
