Not sure when the 25 man squad needs to be announced, as Hoppe isn't currently in the existing one we have
That's if he doesn't leave on loan or permanently this transfer window
I guess if we don't sign anyone he could replace Rogers, or even if we sign 1 or 2 Lenihan and/or Smith could come out to be replaced by him - as they're out for the season

Rogers was U21 so wasn't included in the 25 - I think Gilbert or Bilongo could end up going out on loan

Ah yes you're right re Rogers
*If* nobody goes out and only 1 comes in Hoppe could still be included then if Smith and Lenihan are out until next season

Possibly, but historically we don't usually de-register players. Fisher remained registered last season (playing one minute in the final game), and Ameobi remained registered the season before.

Agreed - which is why I think they may try and move Hoppe out on loan/permanently
Although as you say others may go out on loan. Bilongo would appear to be 5th choice left back in the current 25 - so a loan might be beneficial for him and the club

Was that only because we had no other options though? Though I can't see us de-registering Smith/Lenihan if there is even a small % they are fit before the end of the season.

I agree I think it has to be Hoppe or Bilongo going out on loan...
I think with the departure of Rogers, McGree/Silvera still away for the next 2-3 games, Jones injured... Gilbert has a place in the squad.
He probably won't make the team, but we need more than 11 players, and he's a good option on the bench.

I think with Fisher it was a bit of a sentimental thing - it was his final game before retiring at 28. Ameobi 🤷‍♂️ ... We did have a full squad, maybe we just couldn't bring anyone else in (or didn't want to).

There's a 0% chance either of them will be fit before the end of the season. Smith has ruptured his Achilles and Lenihan's had an ankle operation.
Smith will probably miss the start of next season too, which is why I think we'll sign Ayling in the summer.
 
Outside chance McGree could be back in the squad if Australia get beat on friday, obviously he would still have fair bit of travelling to do so unlikely but ya never know
