Deal accepted for Morgan Rogers.

It really doesn't matter how much we get up front. That's a cash flow issue and has little bearing on what we can spend unless we literally have no cash and are trying to buy players on 100% up front fees. We're in a comfortable FFP position.

Add-ons don't have to be conditional either. It could just be £7m over 3 years whatever

kinda agree, Rogers will have moments that Azaz will never/rarely acheive in the here and now....but he will also give the ball away a hell of a lot as he learns. Azaz is a couple of years ahead in footballing brain age, and is more steady. The big questions is can Azaz integrate quickly enough for us not to miss Rogers? It's been a fairy slow start by Azaz for me.
Yes agree early days only played two games but he has shown nothing early doors

It has been slow, how many times has he been selected again?

My guess is that had we not had so many injuries Rogers wouldn't have played anywhere near the amount he's played, and that Azaz would be slowly bedded in.

Forgotten Gaston Ramirez?

Premier league: lose every week. Matches are all sold out to people with 5000 loyalty points. VAR. Bigger clubs nick your players.
Championship: win every week. Matches are easy to get to. No VAR. bigger clubs nick your players.
Yeah, it can still happen in the Premier League but I feel you're even more vulnerable and at risk of losing your best players whilst you're in the Championship.

I am a bit gutted with this one, depending on whether we bring someone in my mood may lift considerably.

If we don't sign a replacement then it seriously weakens us this season as Rogers had that physicality to break through a defence with a trick or burst of pace and strength when our sideways passing is failing to create an opening.

I am more bothered about the here and now and also how weak this makes us look for when we get raided in the summer for Hackney, RVDB and Mcgree.

He's moved far too soon in my opinion.

I can't see him getting any game time at Villa.

If he stayed here for another season and a half, i think we would have had a hell of a player on our hands, but like a previous poster has said, im worried he'll just stall now until he's shipped out on loan by them in the summer/next jan.

100%. I do personally think Rogers is better than Azaz.... BUT.... We bought Azaz for £2.5m and there's claims we've sold Rogers for a £10m upfront fee.... Is he £7.5m better? I don't think so.

Azaz has 7 goals and 5 championship assists to his name so far this season. Roger's stats look decent overall, but less so without the league cup contributions.

I've only seen Azaz play for us once so far, so I won't pretend to have an opinion yet. However, he's off to a better start than Rogers was.

Why did Villa get rid of one, and sign the other? They can make mistakes too: maybe they've valued Rogers recent form too highly and will be disappointed? See Spence and Spurs.

I've yet to see Azaz run with the ball which was a feature of Rogers' game I'll miss though.

That's true, he's not the finished article, far from it.

I wonder how the extra millions are triggered?
Its a like MI5 nowadays, saying that, I wouldn't believe them if they told me.
We do however need to create enough interest for renewals, so if we fall off in the league or don't invest until the summer the March EB renewals might fall on their ar$e.

If he goes there and ends up in the stiffs like he did at Man City he might well be another Spence drifting around on loan into his early 20's

At 21 the lad really needs to play football every week, just my opinion

how weak this makes us look?!?!?

We've rejected 3 offers and they've eventually met our valuation. That's how business is conducted. Just because some boro fans have a massively inflated valuation of him doesn't mean the club look weak.

I little disappointed to see him go and I think it could go two ways for him at Villa. He may end up on the periphery of the match squad and his form falls away or he could get lucky with an injury/suspension situation and grab his chance. I wish him luck he never gave any indication that he was agitating for a move so fair play for that. It is where we are and what we do.

Still feels a little like being jilted for the big blond lad with the fancy car.

I think we will never agree on this one.
