Its starting to unravel for Newcastle isn't it

They’re skint

And they know they are 😂😂

It’s class though isn’t it. 10th in the league, out of the back-where-they-belong Champions League at the group stage, bombed out of every other competition. Become mega-wealthy at exactly the same moment that the FA starts to take financial fair play halfway seriously, and so do other clubs, so no one will buy their players 😁 Half the team won’t sign new contracts because they know how rich the owners / new signings are, and major first team players have to be sold so they can reinvest.

How are people here saying that they still have a good chance of making Europe?! They’re 10th. 1 point behind Chelsea who are a disgrace, and 1 above Wolves who are as mid table as it comes.

Isak’s good like, he’ll be brilliant for Arsenal.

Almiron to Saudi for £20m (Signed for 21m)
Trippier for 10m (Signed for 12m)

Not quite sure they understand how FFP works. I know i don't, but selling two of their best players and losing 1m for them? Aren't they meant to sell homegrown players OR players for a huge profit?

I don't understand FFP but i am enjoying their meltdown.

I’m not an expert on this either, but I think the way FFP works is that you amortise the cost of a transfer over the length of the contract. So, in your examples, Almiron’s transfer costs them £3.8m per year and Trippier’s transfer cost is £4.8m per year.

If they sell a player, however, the whole of that transfer fee is counted in-year for FFP purposes, regardless of whether the fee is paid in instalments or not. So, again using your figures, selling Almiron for £20m would represent a £16.2m profit for this year’s FFP calculations and selling Trippier for £10m would be a £5.2m profit.

I think that’s how it works anyway.

Ah interesting, this rings a bell with something i heard about how Chelsea have been operating, signing players for 100m but over 8 year contracts so really on their books its only 12.5m per year, and they've got a player worth a few quid they can sell if they had to, and they can sell a Gallagher or someone for 40m and thats all profit. Proper dodgy and shady way of doing things and i think the FA or whoever either have or are looking at closing loopholes like that.

They've already imposed a rule where there is a 5 year limit for spreading transfer fees to prevent teams (like Chelsea have) from giving players longer contracts in an attempt to beat FFP.

I'm looking forward to a few years time when Chelsea have half a squad of unshiftable duffers on massive contracts

If there's a loophole, the Skunks/Saudi's could exploit it sooner or later.

The premier league has already voted in favour of allowing clubs from the Saudi league to loan players to clubs in England who have the same owners.

An example: I doubt our FFP rules have the power to stop the Saudi's from actually buying 100m top draw players from European clubs for their Saudi-based clubs (paying those players obscene money to do the deal), then 6 months later selling them on to Newcastle for a pittance (or even giving them for free on "loan"). The Saudi league isn't governed by FFP so they can do as they like. The Saudi clubs just act as a temporary middleman for the skunks.

But my take on this has always been the Saudi's didn't buy Newcastle for sporting glory or to make money, they bought them as a PR exercise and to sportswash British media and its football fans. There's a reason why they went for NUFC - the media darlings and "everyone's second favourite team".

I think making them into another Man City isn't in their vision, as look at how much flak and bad press City get... that's the last thing the Saudi regime want. I honesty think they're happy for Newcastle to be a top 10 side with decent cup runs now and then, but who don't rock the boat.

It'll end in tears of laughter when your average skunk finally realises this and gets the banners and bedsheets out.

They won't be unshiftable, they'll run their contracts down and leave for nothing having cost the club hundreds of millions and taken tens of millions out of the club in wages, for probably delivering nothing.

I get your point but you’re forgetting one thing namely that the Saudi despise Abu Dhabi and so it’s there way to topple their city side.

That sounds a lot like they’ll be unshiftable given a bunch of them are on like 8 year deals.

Lived in Newcastle for a while.

I was in a pub for the England game where Saka missed the penalty. Upon him missing a lad in a Newcastle shirt shouted ‘you F***ing useless black ****’.

Also used to get endless IRA/Pipe Bomb jokes anytime one of them heard my accent.

Horrible part of the world. Would happily see them implode.
