Cost of living crisis has asked more questions.
Can someone explain why this evil monster still gets to carry on living his pointless life at the cost of the taxpayer? He's never going to be release and rightly so.

as a decent society we cannot condone murder be it state sponsored or otherwise. the cost of living crisis does bring up questions and hopefully the right ones.. as a decent society not only should this man be fed and watered and provided with shelter.. those very basic of human needs. then so too should every law abiding man woman and child in this country.. this shouldnt be a question it should be a simple fact.

then we should be moving on to why food, water and shelter are not readily available to those that need it, the same with education and healthcare. nevermind where are we going as a society.. where are we right now.. what is going on and why are we allowing it to happen?

I'm pretty sure those in power right now would love to have the death penalty, they would love the contracts for the murders, the contracts for a privatised prison service and a monetised health service cash cow.

It feels like were on the verge of either a civil war.. or a twisted lurch into a fascist dystopian nightmare. a few strikes apart it seems very much like the later is the most likely outcome.

You seemed to be doing very well with that reply until you mentioned a 'civil war.'

Countries with the death penalty inevitably end up executing innocent people either through incompetence, indifference or malice.

I think this is what ultimately gets people's backs up.
Prisoners given a bed, a roof, nutritious meals every day, training for jobs, actual jobs and other rewards whilst we have veterans sleeping on the streets, women forced to live in hostels after escaping an abusive partner or kids relying on school meals for their only source of food for the week as a couple of examples.

As for the scumbag in the opening post, an open and closed court case with a mountain of evidence and confessions he should be exterminated.

Yeah, but people ask the wrong questions. Why do hardworking folks face hardship? It's not because of prisoners.

but the two things are totally separate. people should be upset by the things you mention, but the idea that prison conditions should be made worse because the goverment fail at looking after society is a strange direction to take.

Yep, it's a slippery slope.

Plus pretty much what Newy said. I do believe this government are a lot more sinister than most people realise. Thankfully they're also fairly incompetent.

Some people are beyond rehabilitation. Some probably do "deserve to die". I certainly wouldn't lose any sleep over it. But we need to be better than a society that murders it's criminals.

Wonder how many advocating the death penalty would be willing to push the button? A few individuals in the current government no doubt, but I'd hope most well rounded humans abhor the the thought of killing another person full stop and certainly the idea of doing it in cold blood.

Some of the key anti-death penalty campaigners in the US are those formerly involved in the execution process.

It's the argument the government want people to make though.

Why can't I get a GP appointment? Why is my kids class size too big? Must be immigrants.

Why should railway workers get a pay rise if nurses aren't getting one?

Look over there at them, not at us. Too many people fall for it.
