The Wilder/Burnley Connection confirmed by Scott

Really don't get those who want chapter and verse on what happened with Burnley. In the face of direct questions from the press on the topic Wilder became hugely evasive instead of giving a straight answer one way or another. Whether there was any truth in it is irrelevant his appalling handling of the matter alone damaged his relationship with the club and players such that it could not survive when stress tested by our poor start to the season. Good riddance.

I hope those that were quick to dismiss others on here, now realise that there was an issue, and that our concerns were merited.

The way bbc tees spoke said it all as they know the score behind the scenes it was clear that there were serious problems that just never went away.
Yeah, it was frustrating me that some on here had tried to turn it into a running gag.

"Wilder out, he hasn't ruled himself out of the Bournemouth job yet, so he must want out"

The reaction on here, following that interview he gave where he was asked about the Burnley job said it all. Fans are usually right to trust their gut.

Why is it wrong to want to hear Wilder’s thoughts on what happened, rather than just fill in the huge gaps in the little bit Scott has said and accept that as gospel?
I’m minded of American Mary’s posts saying there was no Burnley interface at all with Wilder, or club.

But people aren’t saying that. There are claiming substance went it hasn’t been quantified

The substance is of zero interest to me and always has been. His handling of the situation was awful, damaging and simply poured fuel on the fire. It's hardly surprising that some people felt that his answers to the press were proof enough of interests elsewhere.

All I can do is repeat what my friend who is a football agent with connections with Burnley told me:

"at no point was Wilder on the Burnley radar as they weren't looking at ANY manager who they would have to pay compensation for"

I don't know what Wilder's view was on this, my mate seemed to think it was the press putting two and two together and making five with the ALK connection, maybe Wilder was aware of this and was agitating within the club to make his position untenable.

The facts remain that our results the month before Dyche was sacked were worse than our results the month after he was sacked.

My theory based in part on results and in part what I was told was that the team wasn't fit under Warnock and Wilder put them through a mini-preseason when he arrived and after 3 high profile FA Cup ties, two of which went into extra time, we hit a wall and our form dipped accordingly.

He literally used the club for his own means and showed lack of respect for the community and the knowledge we clearly have. Nonetheless, it’s not right that this story still keeps hanging around as it could be viewed as the club trying to inflict further punishment onto Wilder, which can’t be right either. Just move on, while CW will have to rebuild his career probably somewhere in the lower leagues.

Now now AM, your supposed to jump to conclusions on the basis of very little information and present it as fact

It's the first time someone from the club has spoken about the Burnley connection. Of course it confirms something extra. It's wilful ignorance now thinking that there was no contact between Burnley and Wilder.
But nobody is denying there was an issue with "the burnley connection" because social media, talksport and the fans were full of it. It still doesn't mean Wilder approached Burnley or indeed the other way round. All it says is that the "connection " was a distraction.

Burnley fans will trll you that Wilder was never an option. At no time did they discuss him as a potential manager. None whatsoever.
