The reason they are in power is because of folks like conquest.Oway lads, let’s take 5.
Basically we’re all angry about this. Especially those of us who didn’t put this bunch of sick b***ds in government.

If you cannot control yourself newyddion you can leave the site for a couple of days.It reads like that of you’re pished or if you’re a complete moron.
Absolutely bizarre that people have a go at those trying to help those in dire need for support by claiming they are condoning the need for these “warm rooms”.Really disappointing attitude from you @newyddion.
We all know it's wrong. So does the Spa at Saltburn because they've said so.
I think this was basically the argument newy was making. He wasn’t having a go at the hotel. All got a bit heated too quickly though. There should be no need for generous actions like this from the Spa, like there should be no need for charities beyond repairing church roofs, coffee mornings for the WI and bag packing for the local Scouts, our kindness allows governments to defer and remove the very worse consequences of their policies.
I'm obviously not saying we should allow people to starve or freeze to death but charity has become cosy and removes the anger we should all feel about it's need in the first place, the focus shifts onto the good people do and away from the evils that necessitate their kindness.
In a way it offers a defence for those defending the indefensible, Tory MP's will argue that because the figures showed no increase in deaths, for example, that government policy worked, it's abhorrent and disgusting but the very real political myopia we are dealing with.
Yes we should be thankful for the safety net that actions like these and others provide but we should never lose the anger or sight of the consequences that the government would allow should they not.
It isn't pointless if someone in Saltburn cannot afford to put their heating on during day time. If they can they walk, drive, bus or perhaps get a lift to the Spa to share their warmth and of course company during the day time. Watching Look North last night some people are putting heating on on an evening and using community centres and warm spaces during daytime. How do people get there-does bus go close to it or will they have to walk and how do they get home afterwards? Yes correct they have to walk home in freezing cold weather making the visit to the hot Spa pointless

I suppose what Newy was saying was right, the government knows that the good people of Britain will put their hands in their pockets to help those that can't help themselves. You only have to browse the papers to see the good deeds of others and I was taking my hat off to them.It of a chicken and egg argument there…
I don’t think either Norman or new have voted this shower in but theyve been divided by the very problem they’re both been saying is wrong…
one is highlighting the cause of the problem (tories) while the other is highlighting efforts to alleviate the problem until something can be done about those in power….
you both need to take a breath (won’t say ‘chill’ in this instance) let’s not fall divided…
OK, Ban Lifted.I suppose what Newy was saying was right, the government knows that the good people of Britain will put their hands in their pockets to help those that can't help themselves. You only have to browse the papers to see the good deeds of others and I was taking my hat off to them.
Newy - I think we both need to make a truce on this topic, after all, we're both batting for the same team.
Shouldn’t have been a ban in the first place.OK, Ban Lifted.
