Decent crowd on Saturday?

Our current support is remarkable set against any historic measures.
However, there is no chance we will get 26k at the Riverside tomorrow.

We've had 26k+ in 3 of our home matches already this season.

2 of the others were midweek, a few of them were when things had turned sour under Wilder and when we were managerless.

The rail strikes might cause enough problems to throw things, especially with the severe lack of away fans, but we've not sank below 22,000 this season and we're now at the start of a new era.

It will be a bit above average - my guess is 25.5k.

Bristol will only bring 500 or 600 its a far old trek - 290 miles each way?
The Boro usually take double that to Bristol and it’s the same distance. The Boro have one of the best away supports in the championship. Other clubs are rubbing there hands to get her when the Boro are in town, gate receipts up and additional money spent at the concourse kiosks

I'll wager you a £100 that there won't be 26000 at the Riverside tomorrow.

I'll ignore your wager, because I'm not actually fussed.
If it's above, great, if it's not then it's fine too.

We'll almost certainly have the third highest attendance in the Championship this weekend, and I'm sure Carrick will get a great welcome.

The game is on Saturday and ever chance that 26000 plus will attend !
(Sorry)

Exactly that number must be more than 26000-1 ;)

There are a few ST holders by me who come by train, and I'd guess a fair few will give this a miss, but of course they still count in the attendance.

I'm having to get the coach, which means an overnight stay sampling the delights that Middlesbrough's nightlife has to offer

I saw a video on twitter earlier today of one of our uefa cup group games from 2005/6 and the crowd looks like something from a first round league cup game. Incredible that they were so poorly attended, tickets were often given away for those games.

With fa and league cup runs in the Europe era we were playing an incredible number of games in a season. Add in that all the European games were live on free TV, not surprised that crowds were low.

Always shocked me too.

Even in the season before, in our first ever European campaign in the history of our club, we only managed 23,000 against Sporting Lisbon in a European round of 16.

Can't even argue it was down to the opposition being unknown, Sporting are a massive club.

Just looking at the attendances that Davey_C posted, it’s strange to see how low some of them were. I was at the Litex game with my school, I do remember it being quiet but not sun 10,000 quiet.

Must have been the fact the games were either on channel5 or itv i think even one game was on SkyOne?

Possibly, but our FA Cup matches against Premier League opposition were all sell-outs last season and they were on free TV too.

The novelty factor was equally as valid for our first European tour in 2005 as it was for playing a top 6 English club in 2021.

i think our crowds are up because of the south stand. i quite my red book in 2006 i think. because it was boring going to game atmosphere went stale. if we had a south stand atmosphere back then. id have just moved in there and stayed on.
