Akpom’s post match interview

I love his comment about Leo saying to the players ‘I feel like the best manager in the world right now’ and the way he speaks about him.

Sounds like the players really rely on Leo for some emotional support.

Hopefully a real strike partnership forms between him and Muniz, and we get to see more of that salsa dancing,

Sounds like the players would like Leo to be the manager..

Silence speaks volumes when it comes to Wilder!

He will never be a world beater but Akpom has a great attitude. It was a disgrace how he was treated by Wilder in the Summer before he realised all the other strikers were crap!

We’d still have Connolly stinking the place out if Wilder had his way.

I thought we played with a smile on our face last night.

Loved the link up play up top, you could tell muniz liked having the support.
I thought we were poor last night. However, muniz had more space last night because of akpom. The second out and out striker gives their defence more to think about and gave muniz the chance to hold the ball up better.

Agree with your sentiments there Alzi and Fabio, Chuba comes across as a really nice lad.
It sounds like he wasn’t treated with much respect during his time under Wilder.
It was interesting to hear him say that the only person to gee him up and give him hope was Leo. Speaks volumes that does.

Honestly I just don’t get this

as make no mistake that side wasn’t starting under wilder no chance ( no Clarke etc) so to put it together like that in such a short time and then not just get a win but also get a clean sheet I thought was superb.

We lost to the lowest side in the league don’t forget on sat the morale was rock bottom.

There weren't any other strikers, it's not that they were crap.

We only had Watmore and Coburn a week before the season started, when we play with 2, which is why Akpom came in from the cold.
Another example of the club cocking up our transfers.

He and Ikpeazu were undoubtedly treated terribly by Wilder though.

Wilder treated akpom like the majority of our fans wanted him treating. I don't remember there being a clamour for him to play beforehand, he was universally derided by all on here as not good enough with many offering to drive him to another club themselves

Bit like stuani sale being seen as good business at the time but in hindsight every fan knew he was a world beater played out of position.

I don’t get this at all as we all said that he should have been tried up top after his screamer at sunlun. He was always a good finisher we never really got to see how good.

So not sure about that.

I don’t recall anyone saying let’s not include him in the first team squad for preseason.

Putting that to one side I’ve seen the argument a few times on here now saying “but it’s what the fans wanted!”.

Does it really matter? The fans aren’t getting paid thousands to make decisions that gets the most out of a limited squad.

”universally derided by all on here” ?
By some, yes, but by all… that’s not true

Exactly and when did wilder ever care what that fans wanted anyway ( I’ve yet to meet any fan that doesn’t rate fry) as you say it was his decision to exclude him from pre season despite knowing we had a deficit.

Sunderland was this season wasn't it? You're telling me last season people wanted him here?

Very few rated him at all, including you it seems.

It's a turn of phrase as you surely know for the overwhelming opinion, no opinion is ever universal in a large group but go looking for positive akpom comments from before this season and while you may find one or two, many were happy for him to be gone.
