Does it take yer back young fella me lad. Great escapism mate. What a sentimental, rose-tinted look back at the 1930s/40s.
Just watching episode 3 of 96.
So much more relaxing than some of the schitt going on in the rest of the world....at least for an hour or so
3 down, 93 to goJust watching episode 3 of 96
Loved the original series, my dad used to take me up to Askrigg to watch them filming sometimes in the 70’s an early 80’s. We saw Christopher Timothy an Carol Drinkwater having what looked like a right barny as they drove through Bedale one time, probably coming back from filming up at Askrigg - think they were a couple at the time
Alf White was Scottish of course, not sure if he was a Sunderland fan or not but he got the pen name James Herriot from a Sheffield Utd goal keeper he saw on match of the day i believeI use to love the fact there was a Newcastle fan as a farm hand and herriot portrayed him as thick as mince I believe Herriot was a Sunderland fan
The goal keeper played for Birmingham. Saw him play against Boro in the early 70's.Alf White was Scottish of course, not sure if he was a Sunderland fan or not but he got the pen name James Herriot from a Sheffield Utd goal keeper he saw on match of the day i believe
James Alfred Wight.Alf White was Scottish of course, not sure if he was a Sunderland fan or not but he got the pen name James Herriot from a Sheffield Utd goal keeper he saw on match of the day i believe
Alf White was a Sunderland supporter and season ticket holder but he also had a season ticket at Ayresome Park as well. He used to alternate. He sat in the South Stand Upper just in front of my dad.Alf White was Scottish of course, not sure if he was a Sunderland fan or not but he got the pen name James Herriot from a Sheffield Utd goal keeper he saw on match of the day i believe
I recall Askrigg has the 1 in 4 start up over Cross Top towards Muker thence into Thwaite? A few years ago I ventured from Hawes, over the top and then back up over Buttertubs. I had to push up that 1 in 4!!!Loved the original series, my dad used to take me up to Askrigg to watch them filming sometimes in the 70’s an early 80’s.
