Who would win in a fight?

Who was the hardest/toughest, back in their playing days?

A different thread reminded me of how much I loved Festa‘s passion (thanks @The Ruthsayer) and for a bit of light hearted relief from all the serious stuff, I just wondered who Boro’s toughest player of recent times is?
Souness was before my time but my Dad wouldn’t forgive me if I didn’t put him on the list.

Festa hands down would wipe the floor with all of them including souness though souness would be the biggest challenge.

Id of had Barry Robson on the list ahead of mills or pollock. Ehiogu deserves a mention as well, the only player that ever intimidated Duncan Ferguson.

Fair comments. I‘m sure I’ve missed plenty of hardnuts off that list, they were just the first ones with a bit of a reputation, that came to mind.

Sorry but I would say Wilf Mannion, active service in WW2 in some of the hardest fought battles in the war. Any of the Boro players who fought in either of the world wars and saw active service go way above any on the list, the physical and mental toughness of these blokes is on a different level.

I might put George Boateng on that list. Maybe he's too nice a guy, but he could certainly hand it out on the pitch. More importantly, he could take it too: this is the guy who broke Gazza's arm with his skull.

You can of course be hard/tough and nice.

In fact you could argue the real hard men are often some of the nicest guys too because they have absolutely nothing to prove and they know it.

Big Ugo definitely falls into that category.

This is who would win in a fight, not the hardest player on the pitch. Pog would beat Souness all day long, he is twice the size for a start...
