Larsen interview after 6.1 defeat today.

You're not making any sense.

Larsen's club are at fault here. The only difference in his situation and Tav's was that we didn't try and force a player to stay who wants to leave.
I just think the interview is disrespectful to the fans. Not sure what is so crazy about that opinion

I must have missed something with the references to Tav. Did he have a media interview saying he wanted to leave whilst still a boro player? I never saw it if he did. Wasn't he celebrating a goal in a friendly for us 2 or 3 days before the transfer? If people mean he did an interview saying he was pleased to be at Bournemouth and in the prem, after the transfer had happened, that's not the same thing at all.

Having said all that, I'm not sure I agree it's such a bad sign if Larsen is having a bit of a whinge. Who knows whats been said behind closed doors to him. And as the Tav transfer shows he'd be unlikely to end up in the same situ with us anyway. And besides, we're out so it's redundant anyway.

These interviews aren’t done on a whim. Larsen and his agent will have agreed what he should and should not be saying beforehand. In his last interview he was not as blatant about going. But now since his club are, in his eyes, holding him back they have decided to push a bit harder for a move. If he hands a transfer request in doesn’t he lose out financially from the deal? Think that will be his last resort.

No he never did an interview so as you say it’s not really worth the comparison

Tav didn’t do any interview as far as I recall. If he had though, and had confirmed he was keen on the move, would you have labelled him disrespectful to team mates and fans?

If he did it in the way Larsen had then absolutely but he never

If the lad wants the transfer then he should put in a transfer request rather than using the media to vent.

No set of fans want to hear a player tell the world how he no longer wants to be apart of their club. Those things should be talked about behind closed doors imo.

He said nothing wrong. He said the team hadn’t given their best. They lost 6-1 so it would have been odd if he’d said they all did great.

He then said there had been serious offers and he was keen to move on to progress.

All absolutely fine.

There is literally no difference to the Tav situation except Tav wasn’t interviewed. Wilder said Tav had made it clear he wanted to go. The fact he wasn’t asked directly about it in film is the only variable here.

Had Tav done an interview and been asked, what would you have expected him to say? He says he’s happy to stay (lies) and is disrespectful. He says he’s keen to go (true) and by your logic that would be disrespectful too.

Baffling.

His interview was a lot more than that, mentioning interest from England, Italy all these clubs just way to much info for an interview in the aftermath of a game. It’s distasteful. You disagree that’s fine but don’t call my opinion baffling or ‘making no sense’ I am making perfect sense you just happen to have a different opinion.

Also he was interviewed by ESPN in English, he went out of his way to make these comments which is another thing I don’t like. He isn’t captain, he didn’t score, so was no reason for him to be interviewed apart from him to tell the world his latest again

He’d have been put up for interviews, he wouldn’t have elbowed his way in 🤣

In the interview in this thread, he was pushed by the interviewer to mention clubs. He didn’t mention a single club by name.

My answer to that (and this is only my opinion) is if that case has arisen with Tav in an interview I would have liked him to have stayed clear of such a question and answer something along the lines of 'I'm not here to discuss any potential transfers, I'm here to discuss the match' or something like that.

There just seems something really wrong with trying to force a move in public but refusing to put a transfer request in. Its like he wants to have his cake and eat it. You can't have it both ways.

So, for all the reasons mentioned, why did the club put him up for interview? Especially with that interviewer, who actually seems to ask the right questions (local press take note)! There’s two sides to every story. Maybe they finally realise they can’t keep him and are trying to justify the sale with the fans by making Larsen look like the bad guy. Expect Groningen to issue something now like … “We did everything to keep him but every player has his price. Look at Liverpool with Sadio Mane”.
