Starmer sacks shadow transport minister for appearing on picket line

I don't like the decision but if you have been told specifically NOT to do something by your boss (whatever it is) then there is little doubt about the probable consequences if you do. IMO You don't have to stand on a picket line to support a strike unless you are one of the strikers. When I've been on strike I haven't stood on a picket line for more than a half an hour it's pretty boring and on a wet day in Darlo it's downright unpleasant.

Be interesting to see Tarry’s voting record to that of, say, Christian Wakeford, who Starmer welcomed into the Labour party despite Wakeford spending 20 years actively campaigning and voting against it.
I am not sure that matters all that much. If you stand as a labour candidate you owe that party loyalty. Standing on a picket line was childish. Id withdraw the whip too.

He probably will win an election because most of the public are idiots. A Labour government with a Tory like Starmer leading it isn't a Labour government at all. It's just more of the same.
The only way he will win is if the Tories choose Truss, and even then it'll be a grubby coalition with the SNP and Lib Dems.

I cancelled my Labour membership because of this.

The labour movement has to have workers rights as its number one priority for me to be a member.

I have been relatively supportive of Starmer because I do think we live in a right wing country overall despite me hating that. And he has to have power to improve things at all.

Can't defend the sacking of a Labour minister standing up for the rights of workers

Anyone who joined the Party for Corbyn who still remains as a member is being taken for a complete mug.

If you stand as Labour Leader on a platform of 10 pledges, then break all of them in the first year - that leader cant be trusted.
Starmer is a fake and a liar.
Starmer shows no loyalty - only to the establishment and the status quo.
The Labour Party was founded on the bedrock of Trades Unionism and those unions provide funding to the Labour Party.
All unions affiliated to the Labour Party should pull the funding and disaffiliate as soon as possible.

Worker’s pay, terms and conditions have never been under threat as much as they are right now.

Corporations are bringing in record profits, executives are enjoying huge six figure salaries and bonuses, the super rich have never been richer.

Now inflation is hitting either they have to have less, or the working class have to suffer.

The Tories and the establishment have made their choice, Labour have to make theirs.

If they aren’t going to defend workers at this crucial time when millions are facing the prospect of choosing between heating or going without food, then quite frankly they’re an absolute disgrace there’s no point in them.

You can support the strike without being on the picket line. Starmer was right to sack him. The only disgrace here is Sam tarry who was elected on a Labour ticket then ignores his leader.

Oh come off it don't talk sh*te. You can think Starmers hand has been forced but it's no disgrace whatsoever to show solidarity with striking workers and the trade union movement.
