PMs Since the 1970's

You've got Harold Wilson down twice, but Blair, Thatcher and other multi term PMs only once.

I can't rate them like that, without clauses. Blair invested in the NHS and education but I can't forgive him that war. He'd probably be no.1 among them but for that. Johnson has to be the worst in terms of the damage he deliberately inflicted on our country. Brexit is a disaster, like he knew it would be, but he did it anyway purely for his own gain. Thatcher is next to him in PM hell, a wantonly destructive and confrontational liar.

Apologies - I just copied it - didn't even notice - changed
The difference I guess was that his term was split by Heath, but still it's a fair point.

In my lifetime:

Johnson the charlatan cu*t has to be the absolute worst. I wouldn't even score the man 1, but as that's the lowest that's what he gets.

May is really a nothing Prime Minister. As Home Secretary she was responsible for shocking policies not far removed from Patel - this from a so called religious person too (that's telling about religion by the way). 2.

Cameron implemented an ideological austerity that deliberately targeted people who could least afford it. He also paved the way for Brexit and I suspect was listening to the billionaire media barons by including the referendum on the 2015 manifesto. The man is narrowly better than Johnson. 2.

Brown is a thoroughly decent bloke I think with excellent grasp of politics. He was given a hand grenade by dealing with the 2008 crash. He deserves credit preventing a total banking system collapse. If he'd stayed in power in 2010 the country could be a very different place. Since 97 his financial policies resulted in some fantastic support for normal people in this country. 7.

Blair is a very contentious one. I personally think he was brilliant in the years between 97 and 2003. His Government went after the imposed decline of many areas by the Tories and tried to implement a proper European Social Democratic approach to life. New Deal for Communities, New Deal for young people, Sure Start, Education Maintenance Allowance and other ideas were all aimed at people without much. It was a chance for people to better themselves without the backing of inherited wealth. Sadly, his blind faith in backing the Americans post 2001 will taint him forever. I personally don't think he's a criminal. He just made a decision based on dodgy intelligence and a loyalty from 2001. 7.

Major - too young so can't really comment much.

Thatcher - although even younger than Major's time. I do understand a little about politics and economics so can share an opinion. Totally changed this country for the worst. She adopted neoliberalism that created massive inequality and resulted in critical national infrastructure being owned by other countries and companies abroad. How can that be a good thing? She gets another 1.

Of the ones I remember, Brown & Blair were good for the country, until personal rivalry and the middle east undid them. Oh, and forgetting you were still on the mic in Brown's case.

Other than that Major is the only one who I consider a success.

The rest are just different shades of ****.

Major broke up and sold off the railways.
I didn't say a complete success did I? 😂 Prime ministers are like football managers, every job tends to end badly.

I'm fundamentally at odds with Majors political ideology, but I think he was a genuine man and tried to clean-up politics, albeit his right wing peers spectacularly put paid to that, with a string of scandals.

He also set the foundations for peace in NI, which Blair picked up when elected.

“Brown is a thoroughly decent bloke”, I take it you never heard what he said in the car after his conversation with that old lady. 😂

I can only say who I think was worst.. Johnson by a country mile..

All the others had some pretty torrid times and possibly only Brown can hold his head high although it’s tempered by the global crisis he inherited …

Major is the only one of the Tories I have any time for. A decent bloke even though I didn't agree with Tory policies.

The last 3 have been the worst we've ever had. Each even worse than the previous culminating in Johnson who in my opinion will go down as the worst prime minister in history.

Thatcher was horrible, made lasting changes for the worse. Neoliberalism along with Reagan. A disaster in my opinion. But at least she had some integrity and was a decent leader.

Blair by far the best but I can't forgive him for Iraq.

I'm a bit too young to comment on Heath, Wilson and Callaghan.
