airport queues

Flying from Doncaster on Saturday at 7AM, anyone flew from there recently and know what the queues are like? Planning on getting there for 4AM - too early?

Did Leeds/Bradford a couple weeks ago and it took just under 2 hours to get through security, but on the way back the airport was empty. Got through the airport in Spain in less than 15 minutes.

Flew from Leeds a few weeks ago. We checked in luggage night before (Jet2 twilight) so straight to passport control on the morning of flight. We had fast track - an absolute essential for peace of mind at the moment. Queue at passport control was two hours in itself, we were through in 4 minutes. People on our flight had to be found and pulled out of passport control queue by staff as the flight time got closer. Lot of anxiety. For a couple of quid fast track is well worth it.
What happens if everyone buys fast track ?

My son flew from Manchester a couple of weeks ago. Straight through ended up with 3 hours to kill.

Buying a Fast track at the moment seems like a no brainer.

Like I said earlier, we got them, queues at Newcastle at the time were quite long, and yet we all just skipped all those queues for the sake of a few quid. Bought them 2 days before we flew.

Would definitely recommend.

Even if you don't need it, the sheer comfort of knowing you can just turn up to the airport on time and not worry about missing your flight because of potential queues make the fast track worth it.

That part of the website had mysteriously broken when I was in Leeds and everyone was asking for it.
They've put limits on the number of people who can buy it for certain timeslots. Exactly as you said - everyone one was buying. When my mate flew you didn't book a slot. Now you do. So I'm booked in fast Track 2 hours before I fly. Will get there earlier to drop bags off - have checked in already. I feel I have a plan but obviously it's dependent on it not being carnage.

Flew out of Manchester Sunday night (around 1 hour wait at security)

Copenhagen at 0500 Monday Am was about 15 minutes.

Coming back (this morning) Stockholm Arlanda was about 10 minutes (albeit at 0400 AM)

Passport at Manchester just now was the shortest I've ever seen it. Literally no queue, just walked straight up to the machines

And yes, when the caffeine wears off I'm gonna be wrecked haha.

Did Leeds/Bradford a few weeks ago to Cyprus. Took hand luggage, checked in on line and straight through, no dramas.
Did LBA last Tuesday morning. Hand luggage, 2.5 hour queue to get through security. Very little information or management of the queues. Next time I'll fast track

When I returned the queues for the afternoon flights looked much shorter

What happens if everyone buys fast track ?
We flew from LBA two weeks ago for a 7am flight. We weren't fast tracked and took about two hours to get through security.
As we got closer to security I noticed they were letting about twenty people through from the normal queue, but only two or three from the fast track. Speaking to people on the plane, it seemed the waiting time for the fast track was about 1.5 hours.
As said above the airport seemed a lot quieter for the noon return flight.

Flew from Birmingham last week, advised to get to the airport 4 hours early because of security delays, it took 15 minutes

I did Manchester to tone on jet2 a couple of weeks ago and got there 3 hours early. Check in was quick and I thought I’d wasted a lie in…

Security was bedlam, queues to join queues to join queues… staff were brilliant but a supervisor was walking round barking at them to “do better” not helping moral…

People getting there just in time didn’t help and neither did those not ready for security, ie more than allowed liquids, wearing belt to go through gate, not taking laptops out of bags, wearing coats etc.. sometimes a bit of self help goes a long way…

Also, talking of fast track… there’s still some form of queue and watching the fake tan wannabe influencers getting held up in the way to departures weatherspoons was the highlight.. their voices go up in octaves depending on how long they had to wait…

Im flying from Newcastle in a few weeks. 7AM on a Saturday morning anyone flew from there recently at times ?

Definitely the security queues are worse for the early morning flights than for afternoon ones.

I had a 3pm flight from Leeds a few weeks back and security took 10 mins. A few days earlier my parents flew from Leeds at 7am and security took 1.5 hours.

Do they have less staff on at 5am? Would be weird if they did, considering the number of flights they have at that time.

Another problem I think is idiots arriving at check in about 4 hours before their flight and joining the queues
