Wilder favourite for Burnley???

Random person you’ve never heard of posts something on twitter. Christ, shall I tweet he’s leaving for the Man United job and you can all lose it over that?
“Next Manager” markets don’t mean anything. Even if he does leave.

Would someone be so kind to summarise what's been going on today, as I have been out most of today.

Despite the Gazette and Echo both claiming last night that nothing was happening, am I correct in thinking that might not be the case?

I received a text from a friend earlier saying that Wilder was 1/3 to be the next Burnley manager, then about an hour later that he'd gone out to 1/2. Is there still something in this? Thanks in advance.

I think the long and short of it is that nobody knows. His odds of taking over at Burnley have lengthened (which probably means as little as it does when they shorten, to be fair) and there would seem to have been a slight change in tone from a couple of local media hacks. Not in terms of saying anything is happening, but rather that Wilder would be daft to go against Gibson.
Then usual Twitter rumour/nonsense.
That’s about what I’ve understood from a quick ten minute check.
Basically, still all guesswork/rumour/bull****

God knows but Scott Wilson has put a cryptic tweet out and the rumours are still going strong and wilder still strong favourite. I’m leaning more towards him going but god knows

Might want yo tell your friend that the manager markets are not the best indicator to follow.

the odds are moving because that's where the money is going.. i wouldn't take too much from it.. its a very murky business.. like if sky sports posts a bit of speculation then suddenly sky bet will get a chunk of bets related to it...

Absolutely no news of any substance in either direction

Whilst I agree, the fact that his odds are (still) so short suggests there is either something going on, or there has been a lot of really big bets placed in Wilder. Odds don’t shorten that much because a few people have had a fiver on him at evens.

Two tweets from the press about not messing Gibson about. I suspect he’s not officially been asked/spoken to so not in a position to leave yet. Doesn’t want to resign. We don’t want to sack him. Playing a game.
Or not, hence nobody other than trash journos commenting?

Someone explained that the manager markets are quite sensitive as they don’t have all that much money in the market

This is correct...If I tried, for example, to get 10 grand on Wilder now at 1/2 or whatever, the bookie would laugh in my face, refuse the bet and make him 1/20

The line doing the rounds in the media right now is that Burnley want to appoint an interim manager and decide on a permanent appointment in the summer.

That uncertainty could work in our favour if there has been contact, especially if they go down.

Small markets can move massively based on a few thousand getting placed.
