Where will Connolly end up?

His downward spiral has started and will gather pace. 1 more championship loan, 1 in Scotland and then off to the A League and MLS before a last hurrah with Swindon Town, Bristol Rovers and Yeovil then calling it a day at the age of 30.

I‘ve seen absolutely nothing to suggest he has the guts or ability to make a career at anything above league one level. I’d genuinely have him vying with Gestede, Miller and Whelan in the “worst players for MFC of all time“ 25 man squad.

No idea what the issue is, as when he first broke through at Brighton he looked a decent player, but for us - absolutely nothing. Attitude, fitness, desire, commitment, injuries, mental health - who knows what but based on what I’ve seen so far I’d happily never see him a Boro shirt again.
Phil or Noel? Ha

He's comfortably taller than Kevin Phillips, Jermaine Defoe
He is 2cm taller than Sergio Aguero, Kevin Keegan, Jimmy Greaves, Pele
He is 1cm taller than Paolo Rossi
He is the same height as Ian Wright,
1cm shorter than Gerd Muller
2cm shorter than Henrick Larrson
He is only 3cm shorter than Hasselbaink, Yorke, Slaven or Clough.

I'd suggest there is more than height to worry about.

I think this might be the first and last conversation that has both Connolly and Pele in it.

Yes I'd take him, there's definetly a good player in there but if we move on then so be it. I've seen it mentioned you wanted Gibson gone, I hope that's no longer the case because that would be sheer lunacy. 🤣🤷‍♂️
You seem to be another who sees what he wants to see.
I despaired at Gibson’s decisions from 2016-2020.
Gibson and the Club are completely stuck with each other. He owns it, it is absolutely his.
Nobody in their right mind would buy the club in its current financial position, it is a basket case.
Nobody but Gibson makes major decisions at the club.
We are where we are and Gibson has thankfully refound his mojo and judgement. The club is on the up.
One thing I would never do is question his commitment or desire.
I will always be grateful for his ambition, drive and courage in getting us where he did and I will always be grateful for the financial safety net and funding he has provided.
You appear to be one who thinks he walks on water and can never be questioned?

I was just winding you up, I always like to be questioned and criticised it's a good way to improve at things in life. I've had some mental beliefs following the boro. I used to think Strachan would come good eventually 🤷‍♂️

Its only a week ago he was being compared to Wayne Rooney and i was called a troll for saying i hoped we signed better next season. 😦
Yes, it seems the penny has suddenly dropped for some.

It’s been blatantly obvious to others for quite some time.

Don't know why people are scalding a lad on loan trying his best. He's had some good games and some not so good. I hope wherever he goes next he does really well. Too much hate for the lad on this forum and it's out of order. Ross County ffs.
Listen Pal, Dingwall is a nice place, don’t diss it…. FFS
And btw I have never said anywhere that I hate the lad, he is a trier, anyone can see that, but perhaps not the finished article. To some he is like JL, marmite extraordinaire.

Fits well in this team....

Lumley (cant think of a more inept keeper thats played nearly a full season)

Wright (the Villa one ... dear me, scored a belter against us then couldnt trap a ball )
Whelan (came as a under 21international , )
Saxby ( lump of wood)
Branco (overweight and over here)

Ross (sorry Colin )
Spriggs ( Cambridge leg end)
Thomson Bobby came recomended by Jock Stein , made Chopper Harris look like a fairy)

Connelly ( poor mans paul sugrue)
Miller (non league level)
Ricketts ( sold a dummy)

I know i'm in the minority here, but I really don't understand the criticism of him.

His all round play is good, he's quick and he works hard. Anyone who understands football can surely see there's a player in there? Putting him in your all time worst boro 11 or saying he should be playing league 1 is just narrow minded in my opinion.

It just really isn't dropping for him in the box.

He's the sort of player who I think would flourish playing alongside a "prolific" striker.

He needs to play in MLS inter Miami or something. Not cut out for English football. As good a manager as wilder is he need to find a proper finisher and sort the goalkeeper situation. If he struggled replacing Lumley in January surely take a gamble on the young keeper as Lumley is a huge gamble that massively been a failure so far absolute rubbish keeper anyone can see that.

The strikers we have don’t look like strikers and I don’t think they are suited to the system we play..

Sporar—Watmore—Balogun
————-Coburn—————

Connolly i’d play as back up to Balogun on the left in the above.

With Jones out if feels like we’re a bit like a falling jenga tower.

At the back I don’t think we’re best suited to a back three with Fry out.

I’d like to see us go back to basics with best available players, playing in their best available positions.

Dijksteel—Hall—McNair—Bola

Sporar—Tavernier—Balogun

He works hard but thats it, he is certainly not quick

There is absolutely no way we should drop a midfielder or defender to shoehorn those 4 into the team
Well, Jones & Fry are out..

Two of them are going to start anyway and most of them are supporting strikers.

How do we set up 3-5-2 without Fry and Jones?

Daniels
Taylor

Gibson
Watmore

Coburn

Payero still out, Crooks on the verge of a ban. Just like Pulis and Woodgate before him.. Wilder may find his hand is forced in having to change formation.

He’s not even comfortably taller than Watmore who is 5’9!

Taller than Jermaine Defoe? John Fleck? I’m guessing he’s 5’6
