Different team completely next season?

Fry, Jones, Tav, McNair could potentially leave. Spence? We all know that ship has sailed. Added to this list I think Sporar will be gone. Balogun? Potentially in the squad of his parent club. Connelly? 50/50. Lumley/ Daniels? Neither inspires confidence for a club with promotion aspirations. Peltier / Taylor? Could easily be players not offered terms.

So potentially a massive rebuild on the cards. It does add up to a very busy time for us in the transfer market one way or another.

We really don't need a massive rebuild we need continuity however a new keeper is a priority Lumley is a decent backup. The back 5 is as good as any in the division I hope we can pursuade Jones fry and McNair to stay.
Midfield we need another quality player to compliment howson. I think crooks might leave as well I don't think wilder is that much of a fan. Upfront we need to replace sporar balogun and the abysmal Connolly. Having 3 strikers as loans hasn't worked for us so I think at least one has to a permanent signing

That makes quite depressing reading.

We must do everything to hang on to Fry, Tav, Paddy and Jones. I think the others are replaceable.

I think we might lose one or two of the players we own (Tav and Fry most likely candidates) but I doubt it'll be any more than that.

Money talks of course but we need a lot of players as it is, so think we'll be pretty resistant to any bids. Assuming Spence goes for the amounts quoted anyway.

The club are actually pretty decent at holding onto players if they want to. Every season some fans knowingly predict "we'll never hold onto X y and z" and more often than not they're wrong.

I'm hoping that Fry might be the easiest to hang on to being a local lad.

You could definitely see Tav going somewhere like Leeds, having supported them as a lad (he looks like he would actually be a good fit there)

If we don’t go up might not be a bad thing if Forest do as might spark a biddding war for Spence which gets us a few more mill. (Forest will be desperate to sign him)

Much has been made of our recruitment of late but when you consider that we have a dodgy keeper, one consistently creative midfielder and a toothless strike force you really have to wonder…..

The sale of Spence should put us in a good financial position meaning we don't need to sell any of the other unless we receive an offer thats too good to be true. The only real worry i have is Jones leaving. I don't see anyone going over board to buy Tav, Fry or McNair.

I think we need a new keeper and two new forwards complimented by a couple of loanee's.

We should be ok imo.

This is why I will be so disappointed if we don't go up this season. We could lose those 4 key players and if Wilder gets it wrong and doesn't replace them properly we could find ourselves floating midtable next season.

If do get £20m for Spence and say £15m for Tav I hope we don't go all "kid in a sweet shop" again like under Monk. We seem to do better business when he have less money to spend.

I wouldn't really expect us to spend any more than £5m on any one player (there might be the odd exception, but any player more than that would truly have to be exceptional).

Rubbish as 5 m will buy you exactly what we have now mediocrity. We need a a top striker with a proven record and they cost money. Look at Ivan Toney for 10m.

I’d rather pay for the right player that settle in 2 or three cheaper alternatives.

It’s not just the team, it’s the whole squad that will be overhauled.

Dijksteel, Fry, Tav, Payero, McNair, Watmore, Crooks, Bola, Jones and Coburn (assuming we keep them all) maybe all that we have/Wilder wants.

Howson will probably get offered another year but we are going to need about 15 players, including at least one keeper and at least two new strikers.

Sadly with Covid and footballs current financial state I think we need to generate cash to just balance the books. If we get £15m for Spence (that’s a hell of a lot for one stand out season). I don’t think that gives Wilder much to put back into the team.

Sadly I think we will have to sell another one to generate funds. If we are looking at lower league bargains, what do we need? £5m

Some people say that our recruitment has improved recently, I'm yet to be convinced on that front.
The strikers we've brought in have all been disappointing really and not what we needed.

Although I like Crooks and feel with him we've had value for money, the reality is we're probably going to have to spend a bit more for that genuine top class player at this level.

I doubt we’ll lose more than 2 from Fry, Tav, McNair, Jones and Spence. All of those would command good fees that would allow us to improve, and Spence going might be enough to do the lot, with some decent loans.
Personally, as the back 5 are among best in the division, if I had to lose Spence plus one other, I’d pick Tav as his engine is incredible but he doesn’t create or score enough and energy/graft is arguably the easiest quality to replace without breaking the bank, imo.

It goes without saying that a complete rebuild will happen if you have grown players and then failed to get promoted. Maybe be left with Tav.
This is what's wrong with the game. The constant churning that conspires against progress. It used to be that a club got relegated, re-grouped, grew a team over , say two seasons, starting with a home-grown talent. They then got promoted and had about 2 season's grace to make impact in the top flight, before they had to sell their star players and thus a 4 year cycle was complete. Nowadays, it's been cut to one season, which means constant yo-yo-ing and instability boosted by parachute payments. Fulham will be watched with interest next season.

Next season is increasingly likely, although not certain to, be in the Championship. Hull I am told are likely to be spending relatively significantly from what i understand, the 3 relegated teams will be too, as will one or two teams missing out via the play-offs.

I suspect a deal has been agreed for Spence already, I am guessing it wont be quite as high as some fans think, but it wont cover all we need to have a right go.

In an ideal world

Out -
Hall (Sold/loaned/released)
Bamba (released)
Ameobi (sold/loaned/released)
Fisher (sold/loaned/released)
Taylor (released)
Peltier (released or possible 1 yr deal for cover)
Coulson (sold/released)
Spence (Sold)
(Balogun (Loan ends)
Connolly (Loan ends)
Sporar (Loan ends)
Daniels (Sold/released/loaned)
Lumley (sold/released/loaned)
Howson needs deal agreeing.
Lea Siliki (Loan ends)
Olusanya (Sold/Loaned/released)
Ikpeazu (Sold/Loaned)

Only Spence of any significant value in that list (imho)

Retain -
Jones
Bola
Fry
McNair
Djiksteel
Peltier (1 year deal for his versatility)
Howson (ideally 1 year deal, he may want 2 though)
Tav
Crooks
Payero
McGree
Boyd-Munce
Coburn
Watmore

Next years squad will need as a minimum
1 x Keeper (Brynn or James possibly as no2 or 1x keeper cover)
1 x RWB cover
1 x LWB (to battle with Bola, ideally better where possible)
1 x Left footed CB
1 X CB Cover
1 x DCM (2 if Howson left)
3 x Strikers ideally with pace

Dependent on anyone progressing via u/23’s too.

The spence money wont go far enough, we will need at least 2 or 3 loanees. The strikers will be the hardest roles to fill. It is going to need to be a busy old summer in my eyes
