World Cup Draw This Friday at 5pm

now we get the horse-trading to see which fixture gets which kick off time slot per day.
Assuming FIFA try to schedule the most “TV ratings friendly” game in the final slot per day, I’m guessing the following:

- Mon 21:
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England v 🇮🇷 Iran to be the 3rd game of the day (we already know Qatar v Ecuador goes first, and I think Netherlands v Senegal will go second)
🇺🇸 USA v 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇦 Wales/Sco/Ukr to be the late game

- Fri 25:
🇮🇷 Iran v 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇦 Wales/Sco/Ukr for lunchtime (Netherlands v Ecuador for teatime)
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England v 🇺🇸 USA for the late game

- Tue 29:
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 v 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇦, 🇺🇸 v 🇮🇷 to be the simultaneous late games (guessing group A will be the early kickoff)

Groups F, G and H are tasty.

F has all my dark horses in it, Croatia are Croatia and Canada and Morocco are strong teams with some outstanding players who can spring an upset imho. Really interested to see what Canada can do.

G, you never know which version of the African teams are going to turn up but Switzerland and Serbia are no mugs.

H, just brilliant. History, enmity, quality and world class shithousery - Pepe and Suarez in the same group! That’s a group of death for me.

We play group a winners or runners up depending on our position. The schedule is all pre planned. I attended some of the dry run draws - anyone who says balls are warmed etc is talking rubbish. Very professional planning

Don't count on it. The previous 4 European WC winners have all crashed out in the first round of their defence.

It's a weird stat, and I know it says nothing about the future. But maybe the pressure of defending is greater than we estimate?

Yes that's a weird one. The French have the most quality out of anyone but always have it in them to implode. Hopefully it happens again!
 
I'm not really expecting France to go out, but a draw vs Denmark or Peru is possible. Then it suddenly comes down to goal difference, and they could be in the other half of the draw...
