Ukraine - invasion underway

Go back 20 years Rico....there would have been no voices heard in protest...
At least its more transparent now and people are genuinely sick of being told how to live I think
Fair play to moscovites.
I fully agree, but there are still a lot of people in Russia who are supportive of Putin and what the Russian government are doing.

The Russian people have turned a blind eye to Putin's leadership because they have done well economically. This may not be the case going forward.

Some of them have that’s true but not the majority of the ordinary people. Remember they are severely restricted in what they can see and hear.

Of course the technophobic Russians watching only the state controlled media will be backing Putin.

The slightly tech savvy ones who get to see the outside world are firmly against this attack on Ukrain which is great to see.

Slight glimmer of hope that this could be turned round from within Russia.

Did anyone see Question Time last night? We are all holding out hope that the sanctions will be the weapon to bring down Putin and halt the invasion but the professor on QT who seemed to know his stuff suggested that sanctions are very much long term and could take up to a decade to really hit.

For me, that's a very scary prospect and if so, isn't going have any kind of immediate impact enough for Putin to consider stopping. It will he like hitting him with a feather instead of a cricket bat.

Already signs this morning that other deals are being struck by Russia with other nations to mitigate the impact of the Western sanctions.

I do think (and it will never be admitted in public) that there's a fine line for most Western leaders between harming Russia's interests and harming their own. One of the reasons Putin has acted now is that the West is weak as it emerges from Covid. I don't think there's a whole lot of support in the West for sanctions which will harm already delicate economies only in order to punish Russia.

As a result I do think Cyber may play a very significant role going forward. Very little downside (other than retaliatory attacks) - we could essentially stop Russian society functioning overnight if we wanted to, talk yesterday of derailing freight trains etc.

Did anyone see imran Kahn at the Kremlin yesterday meeting and shaking hands with putin, how much gall do you have to do that yesterday.

I find it odd that Ben Wallace etc announce its not going to Putin's plan.

It's day 2. They are entering the capital already. The fact he has lost troops and had a few planes shot down will not , I guess, overly concern Putin.

Beyond guerrilla warfare, it looks to me like Putin will achieve his aim in a very short time (regime change?)

Ukraine will fall it simply can’t fight off the red army it will take time but sadly there is only one outcome to this and the Ukrainians know it.
