Post a picture of a favourite possession

Thats the point. You can spend hundreds or thousands of pounds on possession but it is something as simple as this that really holds its value. Irreplaceable.
Spot on. There is a story behind it.

I was sent on a management training course in the late 90s or early 2000s. Two weeks off-site from London in the USA. Part of it was about if your life was better then you would be a better manager.

They had a psychologist interview each of us about what could make our life better. I talked about why I felt I could not move on from my current house. As my dad had died and he had done work in every house I had owned since leaving university.

I also discussed that the family had my dad's old tool box. That we could not get rid of. The guy told me to take something from the tool box and make it special to us ( my wife and myself). He said you can let everything else go if you can take that one memory with you.

As well as this our apartment in Spain now has:

- a picture from Paris representing my mam.

- a picture from his house representing my uncle.

- some tiny vases representing my wife's grandma.

Plus I have a Romanby golf ball marker and pitch mark repairer. Representing my brother who died in 2016. I take him with me whenever I play.

I have to thank the company I worked for, Reuters, for this.

Lovely. I wish I could have kept more of the posessions of my late brother but unfortunately I gave most of them away. Some incredible stuff his programme collection in particular. When you are grieving you do silly things.

Such a shame. I feel sad for you.

This advice has helped me so much in life. I am a better person for going on this management training course.

You only need one little thing to trigger important memories.

I'm not sad we had great times and he wouldn't want anything maudlin or sad. It would have been his 57th birthday on Thursday. We went to Boro games together and I haven't been back since we lost our kid in 2012.

Hold on to your memories and dont be too quick in getting rid of others possessions. 👍

I have two special photos of me & my younger brother, who we lost in 2016, one with the two of us & John Hickton at the last 73-74 dinner I attended & one of us both at Wembley v Norwich
We had gone to Boro games since the age of 11 in 1972, the Wembley game I said I wouldnt be with anyone else than him & we took a photo, the last match photo of us that we attended together, age 52, he passed away the following November, he was a massive Boro fan & big into his Northern Soul music, we would chat on the phone every few days about the Boro
Its never felt the same going to games

He bought me the picture below, our last Xmas as brothers

Looking back I'm really glad I bought it (it was model number 975 out of a limited batch of 1000). Always reminds me of my Dad. It sits proudly in a cabinet in the dining room, when the cabinet light is switched on it becomes floodlit (something special about night games at AP).
I'll have to check my AP number, still have the box
