I think the fact he could have been banned or lost his blue tick for making a post which was prejudiced against an entire area might have something to do with why he apologised. But at least he did. Very, very stupid post.

Not sure of your intent here, but all people who voted leave are not racist. Look at the work undertaken at LSE, which indicated that over 65 percent of Asian people in this country voted Leave. I’m not suggested they can’t be racist, but it’s not a simple equation of Leavers equals Racist. I’m only commenting on this small sliver of the Brexit issue. I know many who voted Leave, who were certainly not racist.

Quite right he's deleted that. I actually made a comment to him saying how badly informed he was with regards to taking the knee. Plus how his observation about the keeper was miles off. It was clear to all there the keeper was getting stick because of the booking and general distribution issues.

I think it’s fair to assume that all racists are Brexiteers. I don’t think that’s all that controversial.
As for this apology, it seems wholly insincere and contrived given that he spent all of yesterday and this morning doubling down on the tweet.
