So Compulsory Vaccinations are Happening Then…..

Don't you want your life back pre 2020?

That's a great question. My life is 99% back to normal now. I'd say the only restrictions I've come across recently was completing PLF forms for my recent holiday to Spain and having to wear a mask in the airport and on the plane. I did get pinged from the flight home (8 days after the flight) but didn't have to take a PCR or anything.

I don't mind having to wear a mask every now and again - in fact in winter it's quite nice as it keeps my face warm. Not sure what other restrictions we have in England.

Oh, the PLF form to Spain was easy - the one back to the UK was a right chew on, as was the unnecessary day 2 test, but that's our Government for you. If track and trace worked properly there should be no need for a test.

Randy - have you experienced any other restrictions in your daily life? Genuinely interested to know (y)

Its reported daily that there on average 40k new cases of covid in the UK. I would like to see how many of those cases are people with mild symptoms, or even hospitalised.

The reason I ask, I've 5 nephews and neices that have tested positive in the last 2 weeks. All had mild symptoms and live on different parts of the country.

These add to the daily statistics that everyone freaks out about, saying infections going through the roof.

They may be high, but I get the impression it's just the younger generation boosting the stats. The oldies have had their jabs and are protected.

I would like to go back to normality as promised by the government and Chris Witty and Co.

I missed out on seeing my mum for a year and she sadly died with no family around her.
Over simplistic.

It might be 'just the young' but they go on to infect the vulnerable. Spread at such a rate is also perfect for breeding a new variant that could evade the vaccine, then we really are back to square one.

Sorry to hear about your mum.

I can't remember Witty etc every making a promise that life would go back to normal. It's funny how we all remember the early press conferences differently. I don't know if I'm wrong or right btw, I just can't remember. It would surprise me if a scientist / doctor promised that we would go back to normal though.

Of course, but not everyone can have things back how they were...we are a million miles from that.

You didn't answer my question though. You have decided that you won't compromise to protect the vulnerable, yet won't actually openly admit that is your stance. Why?
What do you mean by won't compromise?
By having a family get together at Xmas? We are.
Compromise? I've had two shots of the covid vaccine even though the risk of death by covid to someone my age is minimal. I'd say that was a compromise given it was released for public use under emergency measures and I didn't really want it but had it anyways, with the couple of days of feeling like ***** after each shot. Lost out on a few days holiday after the second jab because I was unable to work due to feeling rough. That's a compromise is it not? Or was it taking a 20% pay cut when everywhere was shut down as the nature of my job meant I couldn't work from home. Affected my household finances and as an after effect my mental health for 6 months. But a shining light appeared, Whitty, Valance, Fauci, Biden, Johnson etc told the world that the vaccine was our way back to normality. The developed world jumped in with both feet and got vaccinated. But no. Countries are still under lockdown measures, people are been offered third and fourth booster shots, there are protests and riots in countries all over the world (which you won't see on the TV, doesn't mean they aren't happening with large numbers) and now people are been threatened with restrictions if they don't get their vaccine or a booster.

Crazy times we live in.

You literally said that you won't live your life any differently in future to protect the vulnerable. That's the very definition of not compromising.

Sorry for your loss and the circumstances.

Just to give a bit of an idea of the strain on the health care system by ongoing infection.

The ICU I work on has 20 beds officially, but rarely full with a mix of level 2 (2 patients to 1 nurse) and level 3 (1 patient to 1 nurse).

The other week we had 24 patients - expanded into the next ward across. Without the 9 covid patients we would have had a very manageable 15 patients. With covid - we had to transfer 2 ventilated patients to other hospitals.

It's not a sustainable situation- so some kind of mitigation is needed.

Yeah, but none of that matters as long as Randy et al don't have to adjust their lives in any way......

I'm not sure he wants to answer as he can probably do everything.
Well for starters I couldn't be with my daughter at her hospital appointment, which you guys wouldn't understand as she isn't your daughter. That's as personal as I'll share as it's really nobody else's business.

But please, invite the government to bring in mandatory vaccinations, passports, and sacking care workers AND hospital workers during a pandemic.

And I'm the selfish one because I don't want to live life every day terrified of a everybody else. They want everybody to be worried about the man, woman or child near them.

Why not? It's only the clowns in charge and the screen in our living rooms preventing it.
Many countries have hundreds dying every day plus less than half of the world is vaccinated. Turning off the TV and ignoring it certainly doesn’t make it go away

As frustrating as I imagine that would be, you can surely understand why hospitals full of thousands of vulnerable people would need to limit visitors mid pandemic

Also worth remembering for millions they are still extremely vulnerable to this to the extent where being around others is a huge risk. Not so easy for them to just go back to normal

Frustrating isn't the word. Appalled would be a better one. Both parents, fully vaccinated, wearing masks, even my daughter had one on as we were told that 5 and over have to wear them in medical settings now unless exempt. 5 years old and wearing a mask. Luckily she saw it as just copying mum and dad, but soon started moaning about it during the consultation and the kind consultant said she could remove it if she wanted to.

Who are "They"?

I think you've made yourself up a bogeyman and now need to rail against it.

No-one wants extended lockdowns. Everyone wants to get back to 'normal'.

I’ve always maintained that the true test of the vaccine will be this coming winter when a large majority of Europe and North America is vaccinated— the story is beginning to unfold with boosters, flu shots, Covid pills [and lockdowns for the so-called unvaccinated] …all this after the so-called scientists tried to convince us the vaccine was the way out of this mess — the story has yet to unfold… I seriously doubt it has a happy ending but I remain optimistic that the governments will yield in some way. If they don't back away from the mandates then what next...civil unrest and when the time comes a possible coup? People want democracy, the freedom to choose and not be led by the few who defend the likes of Hollywood and big Pharma. I'm wanting out of this mess that's for sure, but not expense of lies and big statements by governments who say one thing but moments later lie. The vaccine as we were told was the way out of this mess-- many of us took the bait -- and guess what they [so-called scientists] switched the story, from being the vaccine to freedom to the "you're not out of the woods yet"-- vaccine wears off after 5 months so you'll need another, and another and another, until what I may ask? We've seen the protests in mainland Europe-- let's not disguise this as a one off protest, this is a big message to governments -- back down or face a lot of noise. History has a nasty way of repeating itself, people are being driven into abject poverty because of governmental requirements-- this is not why blood was spilt during the wars of the 20th century or indeed before. Last note, Moderna and Pfizer are making $65k a minute from the vaccines.

That must be horrible Randy - was she allowed someone with her? I hope she was ok and recovered (y)

So you said "for starters" - what else have you experienced due to the current restrictions?

AGAIN. So why are they giving the same booster composition which was used dealing with the Alpha variant and not tweaking it for the Delta variant which has caused things to change from the original message? Thoughts?

There is a second generation of vaccines being produced now for this exact reason. Novavax is hoping to obtain regulatory approval in the next couple of months whilst many more vaccines are expected to come to the market in 2023. All these vaccines are taking steps to combat future mutations.

It's pretty naive of you to think that once the first wave of vaccines come out they just put their feet up and smoke their pipes thinking job done! ;)

You are forgetting that the vaccine mutated to Delta and changed the effectiveness of it. I don't mind anyone questioning our leaders but please do so honestly and not forgetting key moments in the pandemic. I'd honestly say that if we only had Alpha the vaccines would have probably worked to rid us of Covid. Sadly though, through Governments hoarding vaccines and variant changes we are where we are.

In England we currently are living with the absolute minimum of restrictions. If you don't go to hospital or travel abroad your life is back to pre-2020. In fact I'd imagine people are suffering more through Brexit than Covid. And why is this? The vaccines.

I know it's frustrating and we are looking to blame people but I'm not sure Witty et al are to blame. Probably Johnson as the public messaging has been appalling but at least with Johnson if you want your life back to normal he's very happy to drop restrictions and not introduce lockdowns.

The real people to blame are those spreading misinformation, accidentally (like a few on here) and purposely that scare people away from vaccines and science and push them towards conspiracy and fear. Sadly some of those people have gone on to die / have life changing outcomes due to this. I know of one 20 something girl who ended up in this boat as she wanted to 'see what the vaccine did to others before she took it'.

We are currently looking at between 250,000 and 300,000 new infections per week in the UK. That will have an ongoing impact on the economy in lost work days, nevermind the impact on the broader infection rate amongst the population.
With levels like that then vaccination which doesn't give you 100% immunity from infection will only go so far.
We need to educate the population and encourage them to get vaccinated so that, in combination with other measures like masking, we can reduce the overall infection levels whereby the number of unvaccinated, be they conspiracy theorists, medically exempt or having any other form of objection are not fuelling the spread.
I'd imagine a lot of vaccine hesitancy is being fuelled from social media and education will be enough to alleviate the fears of many.
