Steve Coogan to play Jimmy Savile in BBC drama

Putting the abhorent subject matter to one one side for a moment. I realize that difficult to do. The intriguing part of the JS story is how he managed to con so many people for so long. How much incriminating evidence did he have on so many people at high establishment level?. I've no doubt he would have named and brought a lot of people down if he had ever been brought to justice himself. There are so many sub plots behind the main story. I wonder if this doc/portrayal will address any of these issues or just focus on the main crimes.

I think if you read the interviews that writer Neil MCKay has given he has made it clear that the purpose of the drama is to try and answer the very questions you are rightly proffering

“The documentaries that have been on show you the heinous and nature of his crimes, but I’ve yet to see one that really answers the question, ‘How did this happen?’” Wegner explained.

“We will work with survivors to ensure their stories are told with sensitivity and to examine the institutions which Jimmy Savile was associated with and the circumstances in which these crimes to place.

“Drama has the ability to tackle sensitive real-life subjects and consider the impact of a crime on its survivors and hat lessons can be learnt to stop this ever happening again.”

The Reckoning has been extensively researched, and many of the survivors are involved in the drama's making.“

Its so sickening and frankly unbelievable.
And I think that is a big part of the problem.
Too many of us can't comprehend this so we don't see the obvious.
it's like when I did maths at school and my tiny brain just couldn't grasp it.
It just does not add up.
A talent like Mr Coogan may help us slow learners grasp this horrible reality.
It is too little too late from the BBC but it's something.

I can't imagine wanting to watch this. If there are truths to be told, tell them; I don't need it acted out on screen.
