Your prime minister ladies and gents

...how you fell for the PM's lies, something you have failed to answer.
I suspect you are being disingenuous. It isn't for me to defend ST but he has many times in the past explained why he voted Tory. (A preference for the candidate in his constituency, which he has since said he regrets). Given how many times this has been repeated on here since the GE it might seem odd why you are aware which way he voted but have not become aware of his reasoning at the time. Every time he posts on a "Brexit Issue" this is weaponised against him.

Might I suggest that if you are tired of his postings about the "B" thing that you make use of the ignore function that you believe he has used for you?

I would certainly prefer that approach. I don’t mind debate but as you say, people get upset by what I say about Brexit and instead of just defending it they decide to attack me. If you dislike something, but can’t counter it, I would suggest it’s better all round to ignore the topic, rather than just have a pop at the person bringing the topic up. Personal attacks lead to defence of the attack and these just become circular and tedious.

I can't recall who it was that sad they met him backstage at some awards about 15 years ago. He turned up late, and ruffled his hair to look disheveled before going on stage and proceeded to tell a story why he was late and looking a mess. Whichever celebrity it was then said they bumped into him backstage again where he did exactly the same thing and told exactly the same story why he was late and looking disheveled.

I might have slightly mullered the story with my recollection, but the sentiment is correct. Yes, it's all an act.
I remember reading about this as well, think it might have been Jeremy Vine who recounted the story.

Johnson scribbling notes as if hastily putting together a speech as if he's some genius and then bringing the house down after arriving late.

This all would have been very impressive if Vine? Hadn't witnessed the exact same charade at a previous event and delivering a pretty much identical speech

Johnson is a charlatan, a snake oil salesman. The emperor is stark ******* naked.

Apologies for the chilling image I have just given you.

They are there and we’ve gone over this ground so many times. It’s clear for all to see you saw it was me writing the thread and even though you agreed with the content saw fit to just personally attack me instead of addressing it. This behaviour has gone on for too long and I’m going to call you out for it now
You play the ‘big boys are picking on me’ card far too often and as I said in my reply this morning, people are getting sick of you. I’ve asked you to show me where and I will retract it. You can't and there is nothing to retract. I don't mind people calling me out when I am in the wrong but on this occasion, I'm not. You need to stop making these accusations against fellow posters.

What you don't like is when people point out to you that you voted for this party that is killing our country.

Laughing - I've only used the ignore button once previously and this was for Smalltown. I think I will be using it again.

Please do. I grow weary of the constant personal attacks and, if we’re honest, it makes you look small and petty. Best all round if you stop them

Yes but are you comparing eggs with eggs ?
Surely the ratio of people going for a test and then testing positive is higher ?
You could go even further and bring population density into the equation.
What do you think Andrew ?
Well, you can compare the UK with any of those three eggs which you brought up?

Our test positivity must be higher, as we've more cases per million, then 8x more cases from 2x more tests. If they tested more, then their positivity would go down. Cases would go up, but if they tested 2x more, cases wouldn't go up 8x (like us), they would probably go up 1.5-2x (people largely need a reason to get a PCR test).

Population density doesn't seem to matter a great deal (not where that would be a major reason), classrooms and workplaces are similar sizes etc. Seasonality matters to a degree, but Delta overcame this. Some places abroad have better ventilation because of the climate, but again their schools, offices and nightclubs (if open) are still indoors, still have similar football grounds etc.

They're just better at it than us, they were at the start, and still are now.

Not that I'm saying our cases now are as big of a problem as some believe, most of the cases are in kids where the risk is low, and we're approaching the HIT for kids anyway, and once we get there we're at the Endemic.

Yeah it was Jeremy Vine, think I've linked to this before.

Ruddy good answer 👍

to be more accurate, it offers minimal protection rather than "doesn't protect you"
Protection so minimal that other countries that have maintained mask wearing have a much lower viral load in their population. The also don't have 200 deaths each day.

Having spent some time in Spain over recent weeks, I felt more assured than I do back in the UK.

Out of context bigeggo. You need to read the conversation not just bms reply.

That's largely because of the prominence of mask wearing. We should all wear masks in public places.

If I'm masked and I don't have the virus and I walk amongst the infected who are not masked, I still have a very strong chance of getting it. the protection is 'minimal'

If they (the infected) are masked and I am not, I have a lower risk of catching it.

If we are all masked I am very well protected, as is anyone not currently infected.

I agree, that the culture of mask wearing in other countries hasn't been politicised and I would prefer the same here, shame on Johnson and the other rightwing ideological zealots for doing so, they're no better than Trump was and have blood on their hands.
