* The Unofficial "Official" Matchday Thread. Boro v Peterborough. Saturday 16th October *

Don`t worry Nobby will be on in a minute to put you all in your place ;)

Cracks papered over like others have mentioned but at this moment the 3 points was vital no matter how they were gained

So, how do we view that?

Ludley 5 - some dodgy kicks, didn't have a save to make, and should have had a penna against him, but positive is some very good punches from crosses.
Howson 7 - played well as an underlapping CB
Bamba 7 - showed good leadership
McNair 7 - confident on the ball and and one great recovery to stop Dembele when he would have clean in on goal
Tav 6 - doesn't look confident or 100% fit, especially as a RWB
Hernandez 7 - lots of workrate, both ends of the pitch
Payero 6 - starting to look like a footballer, and it was his movement and awareness and final ball that assisted the second, but for spells he was part of a midfield that was chasing shadows
Crooks 7.5 - covered every blade today, not always the best quality, but made up in effort
Watmore 5.5 - good first half particularly bursting forward with the ball, but second half he looked like a wide forward filling in midfield and not really understanding the position
Ikeapzu 5.5 - won headers, but the ball didn't really stick up top
Sporar 5 - nothing really came off for him
Jones 7 - provided a spark when he came on
Coburn 7 - GOAL! good interplay with Payero too

Overall, nobody had a stinker, nobody really played well, we worked hard enough to capitalise on their errors without making any major ones ourselves....oh and he ref did us a massive favour with the penalty we should have given away

I very rarely leave before the end, but on 85 minutes, I was on my way out cursing the manager, team formation, belief etc and as I got to the stairs we got a penna, and the rest is history 😁…it was a really $hite game though ☺️

***** game, good result and to be fair, I felt a goal or two were coming from about 75 minutes, thought we were starting to get going.
Enjoy the win and let’s see if we can build a run

The lads at the back would be on 6s - they restricted a poor Peterborough team who played without a recognised striker. The midfield was non-existent in the first half. Payero came into it near the end, Crooks worked hard enough as usual. But running about doesn't really warrant a 7 in my book. The two strikers, Sporar was lively in patches and Ikpeazu tried his best but nothing came off.

I think an issue today was the manager could've played with one player out of position but chose to play with four out of position instead. Howson at right back, Bamba and McNair in the middle and Kokolo at left back. The team was all over the shop for 70-75mins. It was a disjointed team and a very disjointed game as a result.

The main thing was the win and we can hopefully kick on now. Peltier will be back on Wednesday night so I'll brace myself for another reshuffle.

Peltier is the only one back though, we have to play with a much depleted defence for weeks.
Tav seemed to suffer today and how long can sol keep going?

For me we have just played one of the worst teams in the league and there wasnt much between the teams.

If they had got the penna which they should of they would of probably went on to win it.

Terrible football with players that should be doing much better. Whos fault is that

So a CB who wins a penalty, should have won another penalty, scored a penalty, had 46 passes at 85%, had a goal saving recovary and didn't put a foot wrong defensively should get a 6??

I am with you. We looked reasonably solid at the back with a real makeshift line up

Agree with most of those ratings but wouldn't give Crooks a 7.5.

I feel for him really because he's been asked to play in roles he's clearly not familiar with. He looks like a box-to-box midfielder to me but I don't think he's played in that role once this season.

Also not sure about Hernandez being a 7. Showed glimpses but too many times he didn't seem to have the confidence to try and beat his man.
