I'm sure that it was painted red at some point - Anybody remember this or is my imagination playing tricks? I know that the Newport Bridge has been a few colours over the years.
According to Wikipedia it was painted blue in 1961.

Would you like it to be repainted in Red??
 
Was red but a long, long time ago and it may have been a primer between coats of blue and green.
The public can still submit ideas for the Transporter. One idea is for it to be lit like the many buildings in town. It could then be red by night, blue by day.

I love this idea and I do think that more could be made of the Tranny AND the Newport Bridge. I don't live in the area anymore but when I visit they make me really proud
 
You could see it from my junior school classroom in 1995 and I think it had recently been painted (or perhaps just repainted) blue at that point.

On reflection it does seem strange that children were offered such a lovely view across miles of open countryside to distract from lessons. Probably explains why I'm such a speling expirt.

It’s only recently that it’s been blue longer than it was red. Didn’t someone on here say it was only painted blue in the 60s and it was with left over paint from the busses! Nobody was consulted.

Imagine something that was relevent on a daily basis, that could ve changed daily to reflect special events and what is going on in the world. Imagine today, being able to project an England flag on it - visible from miles around or a Rainbow pattern during Pride month etc etc. The possibilities are endless - we need to think out of the box. Red by day - ever changing by night.
