I think on the whole the Swiss deserved that.
France definitely had more quality by far.
But the Swiss put everything into it all game.
For me France were beaten by Swiss determination and their own arrogance.

I don't think we'll coast past Germany. I think it's a tough game that could go either way. But I'm with you on the constant negativity towards England and Southgate. I genuinely don't get it. Am I missing something?

Oh yeah, I'm not saying I'm not nervous, but I don't mean that kind of negativity. I mean people just saying "England are completely crap and boring, why bother even turning up, we've got no chance with Southgate etc."
To be honest apart from a couple of posters, it's not too bad on here but most other sites and comment sections I've visited there is absolute vitriol against Southgate and genuine hostility towards the team and players. This is from our own fans! I can't get my head round it.

Exactly, France scored 3 goals tonight and 7 in total yet they are out.
Croatia scored 3 goals tonight and three against Scotland out
Portugal, 7 goals in teh group stage and are out.
Those people that attack Southgate for being defensive need to remember that banging loads of goals in isn't always the recipe to success. Entertaininers don't often win things.

True but on the other hand France went out to a team that scored 3. Croatia went out to a team that scored 5. Belgium are through scoring 8 and Italy have scored 11. You can’t win matches if you don’t score goals.
I want England to go out positive and take the game to Germany - not gung-ho- but an overly cautious approach would be not only frustrating but wrong.

true, so the take away is that you get through by scoring more than your opponents and winning 1-0 is the same as winning 5-3. All that matters is results.

I think you hit the nail on the head-- I mean didn't we all kind of get arrogant or perhaps foolish when France went 3-1 up-- I did, I thought "game over" go and play tennis and wind down-- get to the court and it's 3-2, damn then I'm thinking surely not, The [mighty] Swiss with all those has-beens taking France all the way? Wow, what a day I'm sure it's going to be a ding-dong battle tomorrow also. Let's hope for some lady luck, we'll need it.
