I think this was why it was leaked. The pressure is now too great so he has to go, and BJ keeps his distance from Hopeless leaving the cabinet.

Who was the last MP to resign over an affair - was it David Mellor?

They tend to brazen it out. Alan Clarke knew how to deal with such things.
Reminds me of that David Walliams sketch with him standing at the gate explaining his behaviour in front of his wife and kids

The last one to resign over sexual misdemeanours was Sir Michael Fallon (who was the Defence Secretary) in 2017 for touching Julia Hartley-Brewer's leg inappropriately in 2002. This was around the time the Me Too movement was in full swing.

There is something more going on here. How was that photograph/footage leaked, by whom and why? It puts Johnson in an awkward situation, given his previous well documented marital misdemeanours he is not in a position to sack him and now he has had to back him...

I think it was a disgruntled ex-employee.
