People on here with an agenda

There’s a couple of posters that seem to constantly talk the club and our players down,

I’ve never understood why any Boro fan would do that.

I’ve noticed again today the same people arguing down our players it’s almost like they have an agenda.
I don't think it's an agenda, some people are just naturally pessimistic - in my view it's a coping mechanism to avoid disappointment - I notice the same people pop up on the cricket threads when England lose an early wicket and suddenly it's oh no collapse coming here, he's rubbish etc.

Everyone has there own favourites and non-favourites, but some people constantly try and turn a discussion against a certain player
Currently Saville and Britt are the hated 2 - next season it will be someone else
I remember in the past some people saying it was acceptable to boo Parnaby before he even started a game or as he ran on as sub
Brad Jones was another
It will always happen

My dad has always moaned, thinks we are relegation fodder every season and likes a moan. He isn't bright enough to have an agenda though. He just like to moan about boro.

He did look like a footballing guru when he said we would get relegated at the start of the 96 season when I laughed at him.

A few people like that sit around me at the Riverside. Male, female, young and old. Their only bind is having a big gob and negative outlook.

I just worry about how they would deal with a family crisis if they already approach the limits of their cardiac capacity when we lose the ball just outside the opposition box.

I do wonder why some people actually follow football when they seem to hate everything about it.

I'm as prone to a moan as anyone during the match if it's going bad, but I don't get the people who just relentlessly whinge about it before and after.
There's the odd person in the pub that I actually dread them trying to bring up football as it's always negative.

Sometimes the opposite is true though and people won’t allow any criticisms or concerns. For the longest time on here you were called a bed wetter for daring to doubt karanka, monk, club signings or critiquing performance in a game. It’s healthy to have both sides.
Being a ra Ra has to better than being a realist. I always think it's wrong not to want to win cups because it makes athletes tired.

Football is a sport not a business.

Lots of people take a negative view of things they don't understand. I've seen it loads of times on message boards and heard it countless times in the stands.

I guess the best examples are when commentators say stuff like.. Saville.. struggled to live up to his price tag and not really being effective in the game as he sits deep intWWWHHHHHHHAHAAAAAAAAA GRRRREEEEEAAAAAT GOOAL FROM SAVILLE WHO HAD BIDED HIS TIME SKIPPED PAST THE LAST DEFENDER AND LAUNCHED AND INCREDIBLE SHOT WHICH THE KEEPER HAD NO CHANCE OF GETTING NEAR. GREAT STUFF FROM THE £8M POUND MAN PROVING HIS WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY. WHAT A PLAYER. WHAT SKILL AND WHAT AN ABSOLUTE PEACH OF A SHOT.. Y'know i've always been a big fan of George Saville ever since.. blah blah

I'm all for us putting out the strongest team to try to win every game we play. I'm not for the cowardly saving players from injury, which appears to happen more in training anyway.

Where I struggle with some is their over emphasising both how good and how bad players are.

The centre backs for instance have had some absolute howlers over the season but tend not to be criticised as much when they happen compared to the forwards.

Lots of people will be a bit more negative tomorrow night, after we lose to Bristol City, who have currently lost SEVEN in a row.

(I'm expecting it though, as ending 'other teams terrible runs' has long since been a special Boro skill) :(

Haha this isn't exclusive to boro though, it goes on everywhere.

I know united fans who think Bruno is overrated and city fans who say sterling is the worst player they've ever seen (yeh worse than pollock if you can imagine that).

I went to a few stoke games with one of my mates and stood in the away end for one of their games at crystal palace - honestly 100 million times worse than anything I've heard in the boro end.

Football fans are a special breed

This last line is the truest thing I've ever read. In the mid "noughties" (sorry I hate that phrase bit it's a useful shorthand) I used to go and see Barcelona play a lot. One game I was sat in front of someone who spent the entire game slagging Ronaldinho off. As someone who has seen Richard Liburd play for his team, it seemed a bit extreme but some people just are never happy.
