So a power cut was a chance to dig candles out and tell ghost stories.
We had a power cut a few years back and straight away we had the radio on, candles lit and started playing cards. When the light came on we switched them off and carried on.Ive got a box of these under the sink for just the occasion.

As a young lad we lived in a village where power cuts were regular.
We had torches to go to bed with and to make dens in the garden an little battery radios to listen to Radio Luxembourg.
Loved the 70s when only bus headlights guided you along the pavement on the way home.
Theres a wind- up charger in my camping kit and a min-solar charger for the phone and laptop.
Trangia stove with metholated spirit burner and jet-boil in the cupboard.
