Catch covid and win £500

It's a bizarre policy. Sure people need the financial support if they are unable to work etc, but if they're planning on throwing £500 at anyone who tests positive, you are going to get some people who will try to catch it.

First thing I thought when I heard it on the radio. How many sceptics are going to see it as an opportunity and how many families that are struggling are going to see it as a necessity to get by?

It’s absurd are these lot taking the proverbial out of us ?? What the hell do they think all the chavs are going to do ? When they do get it they’re not going to isolate . Should give you £100 a month if you avoid it .

If you have any cash savings gentlemen and ladies I would strongly advise you to look to diversify it.

Art, classic cars, crypto, gold, stocks, rare metals, bonds, futures.

Whatever takes your fancy and whatever you can afford, do that research and put your savings there. Monetary policy in the western world has gone absolutely off the deep end.
Something like 30% of all dollars in existence were created in 2020. Let. That. Sink. In.

One of the reasons NYC had such a high self isolation figure was they paid people to stay at home. It works there. It might just work here.

And do people really think they will try and get Covid for £500? After all, they can't spend it on a ventilator...

Whatever we are doing now isn't working so something needs to change. Anyway, everyone is quoting the figures with today's infection rates. If it's brought in when they have dropped it won't cost half as much and may really help fighting the spread.

What's the worst that can happen?

That’s far too much common sense Jam.

It is common sense but I bet it would be a pain to implement. Throwing a fixed sum at the problem is simpler and could well be cheaper in the long run.

I'd imagine the £500 is made up of 2 weeks at £250? Aren't we isolating for 10 days now? Who even knows

Why would it be a pain, we did it for millions of people, the alternative seems more open to fraud.
