Anywhere between North Yorkshire and County Durham? Dunno? FFS, Just stay in!!!!!
Yes, but what's Teesside?
A large swath of land stretching from The Gare to the North Pennines. Barnard Castle includedYes, but what's Teesside?
The point is, if there's a plan, you know, to reduce infection, protect the NHS and save lives, then they should be able to say what is meant by staying local.
Yep, it opens the loop hole for the wilfully ignorantSurely everyone knows what is local. People can't surely need their hand holding that much. If you try to argue that local is anything more than about 5 miles than its just being deliberately obtuse.
But why is leaving Hartlepool not leaving your local area? Is Hartlepool in Teesside?Basically, if you're on Teesside, don't leave Teesside, I think that would be the sensible interpretation.
My son goes to nursery more than 5 miles away (next door to where I normally work although I've been WFH since March). Am I allowed to go the park next door after nursery, or do I have to bring him straight home?Surely everyone knows what is local. People can't surely need their hand holding that much. The point is, if its as simple as some of you are suggesting, why don't the government define it?
Ok. The park near his nursery is normally empty, the park near home is usually packed with kids. Then what? Still bring him home yeah?I would say if there isn't a park near your home then fine. My daughter goes to school more than 5 miles away and there are 3 parks I could take her too. I would bring her back home to the local one though because there is one near home
I would say if you can get there under your own steam then that would be it. No trips out in the car to start some epic journey. How many hours are you gonna be out for and how fast are you going? What is meant by 'local area'. The government website says we can excersise once per day but only in our local area. I can't seem to find any guidance on this. Just wondering as I like to get on my bike for a couple of hours. Don't fancy riding round in circles!
But this 5 mile thing has simply been conjured up on this board. Why don’t the government talk about 5 miles? Or 10 miles? Or give any guidance at all about the implement of their own rules?5 miles seems reasonable enough to me. If you are running, walking, cycling or skateboarding. If you can't do it in a five mile route from your home you must be doing something wrong. 5 miles there 5 miles back =10 miles. If that's not enough go in a circumferential route. Not rocket science.
